Are there residential internet providers who offer >1mbps upstream?

I've been getting into doing some gaming live streaming and a big issue I'm having is that while attempting 720+p streams I just can't maintain the upstream capacity for longer than a few seconds before it gets choked off. It ends up with high in-game latency, choppy streams and even when I am broadcasting at 360p I get super high latency.

Even though there's not supposed to be any throttling going on, don't kid yourself ... it does. I think R***** boasts a 1.5mbps upstream, but it's not reliably constant and so I'll just start looking at other options since it keeps chocking back to likely 512kbps.

Not something I intend to make a career of, but having the option to make use of a stream to walk a client or group though something or make photo edits while they watch might be a benefit to my work.

mine does

ROADRUNNER

Time-Warner (AOL) ... I knew they were in Newfoudland, but it the service available in Ontario?

I couldn't find a Canadian site for them . But the 2mb Turbo package is about what I need.

I'm in Buffalo

But a fair warning: no matter how fast your service is you are only as fast as the slowest part of the net.

Agreed. I did a Ping test over several points of the day and had the same results.

The Xsplit bandwidth test came up that I could pour out 900kbps easily without dropped frames through the 3 minutes test .... so I tested then ran a second bandwidth check while streaming at the 4 minute mark and had a result of just over 500kbps.

Before it's mentiond. The system I'm using has a 2GB Radeon Card (Although Xsplit said there's issues with the AMD video card's compatability, I don't think it would cripple the upstream) as well as 32GB ram and an Intel i5 processor. I can render video, work in photoshop simultaneously while watching a movie online without much trouble. System wise, I'm golden.

Result ... I'm getting choked likely as it's seen as P2P from the provider. Whether I deal with Customer Care in India or Montreal, R**** isn't going to fix the issue.

The next best provider Teksavvy actually has their internet provided by Rogers, and even with the generous downstream, there is no residential of above 1.5mbps available in Brampton (unless I convert to a commercial installation).

give speedtest.net a go.

We use it to verify speeds in systems we install and document with it.

make sure to use DOT NET

Doesn't Bell or Rogers have that service for an extra fee?.

Probably a larger package that still cuts the bandwidth in half of what you paid for. Will look into this if it's not double the price.

At what damage per month?.

I think I was looking at $85 a month for commercial DSL installation from teksavvy that offered 10mbs down and 7mbs up. Likely some extras involved though for install or equipment. On the plus side, it's unlimited.
