[h=2]Girl that <3 toast[/h]
I'm looking for that special someone who will share my passion for toast, all kinds of toast -- white toast, whole-wheat toast, rye toast, toasted bagels (and when I'm feeling wild and crazy, a Pop Tart.) To me, toast is the ultimate turn-on. There is nothing like a man who smells like toast! I picture us sitting on a couch in front of my sixty toasters, getting nice and toasty, sipping brandy from glasses with croutons floating in them, talking endlessly about the splendors of toast. Perhaps one day you will ask me to spread butter and jam on your body. Or cream cheese -- I'm not particular. Are you that special man?

[h=2]Convince my wife she is on a reality show about food safety.[/h]
My wife is terribly dangerous in the kitchen. She cross-contaminates raw meat with other things constantly, takes dirty knives out of the sink to cut fruit for our children, refuses to wash produce from our urban garden or the grocery store before serving it, and refuses to use any kind of covering on food that is placed in the refrigerator. She has no normal sense of what is safe or appropriate.

While I have tried to point out to her that this is all extremely dangerous, she:
1. Is strong-willed and absolutely convinced that these things are not problems.
2. Notes that her mother does the same stuff and that she was trained in lab work by a Nobel Laureate (?!)
3. Believes she does not get sick and when she does, blames anything or anyone else.

As such, I would like to enlist someone's help to assemble and lead a team to convince my wife that she is on a reality show about dangerous kitchen behavior (title of show: TBD). You and I will work together to plan a script and you will produce. I am imagining that it goes something like this:
One weekend morning, there is a knock at the door.
Your team comes in, perhaps a host, a doctor, a scientist, and a cleaning expert, along with an authentic looking shooting crew (at least two professional looking cameras, a sound person, a director, and lighting person) You ambush her and tell her she's on a reality show about the most dangerous cooks or whatever, that you've been secretly filming her in the kitchen for the past month (you know how this part goes)... Then you show her the secret footage (which I have captured and which you will have edited).

The scientist, doctor, and cleaning person should all say appropriate reality show things like "in my entire career, I've never seen anything this dangerous...." etc. All reality show cliches welcome.

Then you will stage some kind of intervention in the kitchen, showing (and filming) how to clean with soap and water, how to wash a cutting board after cutting raw chicken, etc.

Then you will leave telling her that the episode is not yet scheduled to air, but probably sometime next year.

There will be no reveal. You will not tell her this was fake and I will not tell her this was fake - ever. We will be "waiting for it to air" for a year or so and then we will conclude that the show didn't get picked up, etc. My hope is that my leaving it all hanging, the impact on her behavior will be more severe.

The ideal candidate will have some film/tv experience, access to friends who can play these parts, and ideally access to the camera/lighting equipment for free or cheap to reduce the costs of this endeavor. Note that none of this equipment needs to be functional - there is no need to record any of this.

To apply, please send a brief treatment of your vision for this production and how you would staff and execute it, along with an initial rough budget. I will select the top proposals for in-person discussions.

I look forward to working with you and I thank you in advance for helping to protect my family from food borne illnesses and pesticides.

[h=2]The Rent is TOO HIGH! Solution, let's get married![/h]
Who can afford this ridiculous rent here in DC? Not this guy. $1800 for a studio so small you can stick our your arms and touch the walls in a sketchy neighborhood. Sure, here's 50% of my monthly income, thank you.

We all know that parquet floors is code for "This building is older than you are." And "up and coming neighborhood" means you'll probably get mugged on a semi-regular basis. Any building that with a "classic" look is falling apart. You're sick and tired of having mice run around your pantry?

Me too. Solution? Let's get married. (Kinda!) All of the married couples get to split rent on a 1br. Dating and getting married is expensive and time consuming. Ain't nobody got time for that! We'll just skip ahead to the living together part. Cool?

I am- a 30 yo male. Employed. Reasonably attractive. Healthy. Never married. No kids. Good job. Great hygiene. Bonus: I'm a cuddler!

You are - A female between the ages of 26 and 33. Social drinker. Non smoker. No drugs. Good hygiene. No felony charges. Healthy.

We find a one bedroom in a great apartment building with granite counter tops, rude 24hr concierge, and floor-to-ceiling windows. This is a must! We move in together. Enjoy the amenities. Have friends over. Enjoy life.

Caveat - You must love live music, books, crazy wild sex, good wine, and be willing to try out my (often misguided) attempts at cooking.

Who needs dating and getting to know each other and all that nonsense?! We can just cohabitate at [address]...

If interested (and how could you not be after this kick-ass proposal?), respond with a little bit about yourself. Please include photos!

(No Republicans, please.)
*Also, we're not for real getting married. Maybe...*

[h=2]Poem you wrote me - w4m[/h]
I found it this morning on a pink sticky note. I saw you leave it, but was too shy to approach you. It read:

You hit my
car asshole
BMW that was
parked behind
you, got your
license plate #

It is a lovely composition, but one thing left me a bit confused: I didn't realize cars had assholes too! Where exactly is the asshole on the car? You may be thinking "you know where the asshole is because you hit it!" But you are mistaken because I did no such thing.

Did you perhaps make a mistake and you meant to write CAT asshole? Cats have assholes (mine proudly shows me hers all the time), and I mix up "cat" and "car" frequently since T and R are next to each other on the keyboard. However, I don't think I hit your cat asshole either because I love cats, assholes and all, and would never do that.

Oh, oh! Perhaps you missed a comma. Yes, yes, this seems likely, as angry, boorish jerks tend to do this. That wasn't very nice of you to call ME an asshole!

Also, I definitely didn't hit your car. Good luck with that.

[h=2]That burrito, jesus. But from where? - m4w[/h]
I woke up with the remains of a burrito next to the sink. It was everything. It had french fries in it, and avocado, and sour cream, and probably sprinkles of unicorn dreams. It was at once crunchy and smooth, and hot and cold, and salty and gooey and chewy. I remember ordering "The Californian" from a menu with 800 other unnecessary alternatives. I watched as it emerged into this world one spoonful of love at a time and then beautifully origamied by a soulful Mexican man who will be the godfather of my future son. It was, quite simply, the finest burrito I've ever had the pleasure of leaving next to my sink at 3:00 in the morning. BUT FROM WHERE? Sweet Mary and Joseph I cannot remember where it came from. Please help. I was walking home from Hi Tops in Castro through the Mission--walking toward SOMA. I was walking down a numbered street but don't know which one. Probably low-to-mid teens. As I walked east, it was on the lefthand (north) side of the street. There was a ton of tables inside, a burrito assembly line (neigh, a wish-granting magic factory), and lots of Mexicans so you know that shit was tight. I've got no receipt. No signage on the bag. No memory. Nothing. Let's track down this nursery of culinary magic. I need this burrito in my life every day. Did I mention it had french fries IN THE GODDAM BURRITO? Where did it come from? Please help me, and then meet me there. I'm getting the Californian.

[h=2]An open thank you letter to the man who sold me a bad cord of firewood[/h]
Dear sir:

Last week I responded to your craiglist post that stated you would deliver a cord of seasoned, split oak firewood for $150. You responded timely and delivered exactly when you said you would.

As I stood there with my two small children and we talked about the fact that we had just bought this old house, that I was new to relying on wood stoves, and that our primary heat was our wood stove, you looked me in the eye and assured me that this wood would burn hot and even. I handed you $150 in cash and off you went.

Later that afternoon I tried to get the fire going. And then I tried again assuming it was my own inexperience. That evening when my husband came home from work he took one look at the wood and explained to me that it was green and not, in fact, seasoned. Our neighbors confirmed and, indeed, it was. My husband called you several times to no avail.

So....I was out $150 in cash that we can't spare, and our house is quite chilly, but still I want to thank you...and this is why:

1. It reminded me of how wonderful my husband is because instead of getting mad he put his arms around me and reminded me that next year we would have a nicely seasoned cord of wood and that really, in the scheme of things, it's only money (even if there isn't much of it.)

2. It allowed me to use the experience to explain to my kids the important of honesty and how our actions affect people in ways we may never know. It also allowed me to talk about the importance of forgiveness.

3. And finally, it reminded me of how I need to work on my ability to forgive. I also wondered, and hoped, that maybe you needed the money alot more than I do.

4. It has also helped me be a little more frugal this month...and that is never a bad thing.

So, I feel better now. You will likely never read this, but that is ok. I needed to do it to help me forgive you.

Sincerely,
Me

[h=2]To the man in the Costco parking lot who handed me 2 neatly folded 20s - w4m[/h]
First of all. . .. . .What the fuck? Who does that?

You do not know about the weekend that I've had, let alone the day.. It didn't matter to you though, all that mattered was you found someone who you could help and you did.

Not only did you return my book for me; who the lady in Merchandise Return told me I needed a receipt for unless I was a member. . . you didn't seem bothered by it at all. You told me you had nothing better to do, like it didn't even phase you one bit. As we walked back out to my car, I expressed my gratitude. The $17 Cash Card I got from returning that old book (my last attempt at finding some extra cash for the next week) was going to buy me much needed tampons and gas (which I didn't say of course, I just thanked you over and over)

My face must have given me away when we passed each other in the parking lot, and had you not said something to me about my shopping experience I wouldn't have felt the gratefulness that I did in that moment, and still feel. When you offered to take the book in for me I felt relief. Finally something today worked out in my favor after hours of stressing and tears, and it was almost nothing to you. You barely even thought about it.

When we went to part ways you shook my hand and introduced yourself. I believe you said your name was Mike. With that, you slipped $40 into my hand and said "Don't say no."

I remembered earlier you had asked me what the rest of my night consisted of, I told you I was on my way to put some gas in my tank and feed myself, and you seemed to understand. I can't imagine what kind of life you've had, stranger. But I can only hope that one day I can revisit the kindness I experienced today from the other side. I will strive to be as caring as you, as casually nice. You're one awesome dude.

I was in awe, I didn't know what to say. You wouldn't let me argue, though.. just thank you. I cried in my car for 30 minutes after that, and I hope my gratitude came through as clearly to you as your kindness and generosity did to me. If there is another life after this one, I hope to come across your soul again.

Thank you.
