Blackberry vs Ipod

Who Won - Bill Gates Or Steve Jobs?

Who Won - Bill Gates Or Steve Jobs?

During the eighties and nineties the big debate was who would "win" the computer wars, Microsoft or Apple. Well, Apple just had the biggest revenue quarter of any business in the history of the world so does this mean Apple has "won" the computer wars?

Bill Gates is off doing humanitarian work in Africa and Jobs is dead....but which company is the Big Winner in the 21st Century?

I remember well the times when this debate was raging - Microsoft vs. Apple. Now it seems (to me) like Apple has left Microsoft in the dust. What do you think?

Jobs will be remembered for his vision, for the products that became tethered to us throughout the day and became a part of us, for his taste in design, for his creativity, for his success after success after success and the impact Apple has had on everyone. Gates will only be remembered as a billionaire who helped the needy all over the world.

The first year any apple product is released it is for unctuous dorks to wear while they work the bugs out.

Watches are cool. First, a nice watch just looks good. Next, they are a nice throwback to older technology and innovation. There's something cool to be said about mechanical time pieces still being used in a digital age.

As for the Apple Watch, I will defiantly go check them out when they are on the shelves at the nearby Apple store. The health monitoring applications similar to the Nike Fuel Band are pretty interesting. And I bet that the function that lets other people feel your heart beat will have some fun spin offs as well.

I'm really surprised at all the negative comments about the Apple watch.
s about something you haven't even seen or tried yet? It's not just a watch. It's a computer that you wear. Give it a chance and let's see where this goes.

Still too early to say, really. When it's all said and done, it may end up being a tortoise/hare war:

Bill Gates stepped down in 2008, and Microsoft's revenue and profit margin slipped for a year but then bounced back and continues to climb. So, MS clearly doesn't need him.

Jobs appeared to be more closely tied to Apple's vision and success, though. Jobs has projects he started while alive still in development, but after that pipeline runs out, will they retain their momentum?

I'll wait a few more years before casting a vote. (But I am PC all the way.)

While cool and useful, I think AppleWatch might fall into the same category as GoogleGlass: great technology, but no matter what you're going to look dorky wearing it.

Thats how I see it too, certainly cant say either "lost"

Like another member said, yes but Gates is alive and enjoying his benefits. Steve must have gone to hell, heard he was a rude arrogant bastard.

Apple's new 'Spaceship' campus that's beginning to take shape

Apple's new 'Spaceship' campus that's beginning to take shape

Construction is well underway for Apple's new circular "Spaceship" campus, and a recent drone flyover courtesy of Apple Insider gives us an excellent look at the project's progress.

The futuristic Apple Campus 2 is designed by Norman Foster's firm, Foster + Partners, and will eventually feature curved glass panels, an underground parking lot, a private auditorium for keynotes and product launches, and a 360-degree view of nature.

Here's what it'll look like when it's complete.

Apple has been sharing photos of the construction from time to time, but Apple Insider has gone one step further and stealthily flown a drone over the construction site to capture a video of the campus from multiple angles. The video shows that Apple has made some progress on the circular main "Spaceship" ring of the headquarters, with the new addition of concrete floor panels.

Significant progress has also been made on Apple's $161 million auditorium, an underground theater in which Apple will eventually unveil new products and hold press events. You can also see the circular lobby of the auditorium taking shape.

The campus will also feature two above-ground parking structures, and the first parking structure is nearing completion and will soon see solar panels installed on the roof. While there's still a ways to go before Apple's new campus starts to look like the concept rendering seen before, a fair amount of progress has been made since construction began, which you can see below.
