What is it with people not grasping the concept that you don't want something that's free, or will be paid for?
Last year, my gym was having a members' appreciation week, and were giving away little key chain flashlights. When I was offered one, I refused. When the staffer pressed it, I said I didn't need it, would probably never use it and it would just end up in the garbage.
Tomorrow, I'm to attend an union related meeting by the airport. Because of the distance I'm traveling, I'm entitled to a room tonight and tomorrow night. (Fri and Sat night) The lady I spoke to to confirm my attendance was most confused. "But you're entitled to a room for two nights." Yes, I know I am, but I don't want them.Normally, I work Friday evening, and the idea of working out, working 8 hours, then driving into TO at 10pm or later wasn't too appealing. I'd much sooner sleep in my own bed, not have to forage for breakfast and drive in fresh in the morning. As for Saturday night...Sure the union's putting on a dinner, but I don't care for those. Sitting at a table with complete strangers, who'd sooner talk to each other than me just isn't my thing. Then WTF would I do with the rest of the evening? Yes, I know what you're going to say, but remember I've been off work for nearly two weeks now, so money is an issue, and after the flop my last outing was, I really don't feel like another attempt. So why not instead just come home, hit the gym, and sleep in my own bed. (And yes, I hit the gym in a knee brace immobilizer)
Animal or idiot, your call....
Why is it that people have such a hard time with the idea of a person turning up a "freebie"? Sure, I can have it, I might be 'entitled' to it, but I don't want it or need it.
Kinda like I'm sure I'll be soon hounded about vacation....Look guys, I've already had two weeks off, I'm good and ready for work again, quit pissing me off.
