A sickening new propaganda video, issued as Muslims around the world prepared to mark the Muslim Eid al-Fitr holiday, shows a child soldier beheading a Syrian prisoner. The boy looks to be no older than 12.
It's the first time ISIS has recorded one of its "cubs of the caliphate" conducting a beheading, though earlier videos have shown child soldiers as firing-squad executioners.
Such videos have been shared through social media to spread the group's reputation for terror since launching its attacks through Iraq and Syria, where it's set up its brutal caliphate.
In the latest video, seen by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the unknown child is dressed in camouflage and a black head wrap, holding a knife and standing over what is reported to be a captured Syrian soldier, lying on his stomach.
The child reaches down, pulls the officer's head up by his hair, and slits his throat before severing his head and placing it on his victim's back.
All the while, a senior ISIS militant looks on.
At the end, the older member speaks to the camera: "Our goal is not only Palmyra or Homs or Damascus, rather our goal is to conquer Bayt al-Maqdes (Jerusalem) and Rome, God willing," according to SOHR.
The human rights group said the footage appears to have been recorded in the Western Hir Palace in Home, Syria.
The officer was reportedly stationed in Palmyra, the historic city that was overrun by the ISIS hoard a few weeks ago.
