A subject we were discussing over the weekend.

Does having a college degree earn you respect from people and the professional community?

Is your life a failure if you don't have at least a bachelors degree from a university?

What is your take on that?.

they type of people why respect the paper and not the skills are not worth having the respect of.

The college degree can get you in the door, but like PS stated, the performance and professionalism are what counts. There are many I have met that exhibit both without the degree. These qualities come with the person, not with the granting of a degree.

As you may have guessed I am old school in electronics and computers.

I respect skills not papers or E crap

I have found with no college degree you have to work harder to prove to people that you know your stuff. Without those little letters beside my name people get a bad first impression. It does suck at times but I let my accomplishments speak for themselves.

There are some people that are not intellectually capable of higher education. Especially not at University level.

Saying that. I know a few good people that work with their hands, are great people and make three times as much with those that have degrees.
