But this comment in response to the story makes a very valid point:

What happened to Pony is despicable - there's no doubting that. But why aren't we so up in arms about the millions of human women forced into prostitution worldwide? Is it not more disturbing that human women are forced into these horrifying conditions, and on a much larger scale?
If we can afford a 35 police officer raid for an animal, surely - SURELY - we can spare just as much outrage for the ladies who are forced into equally dangerous and dehumanizing conditions.
