It s too bad as in the beginning, I thought he was at best decent. Then, the constant lies, the deficit of $14 billions alongside scandals like eHealth, ORNGE, green power and now the power plant fiasco really put him in the bad light.

Setting aside all speculation about skeletons in the closet (a la Elliott Spitzer), groundswell opposition from teachers and other public servants, or unrevealed personal issues (health, etc), then this is a smart move on his part.

Let's face it, 16 years as party leader, 9 as premiere, it's time for McGuinty to move on. Better to go out walking upright than limping through the door after a brutal election. And his party does need renewal.

Now if only Hudak would make a similar announcement, our options could get much more interesting.

And I bet some of you living in Toronto wish Rob Ford would make the same move asap.

Imagine how costly it will be if the government loses the court challenge. He's getting out before the roof falls in on him.

We wont know till years later. SO by that time, he will be somewhere else avoiding this mess. I doubt it if the govt would lose as it seems to win often in many different political cases.

This is a constitutional challenge and it will be interesting too see what the courts do. I think the union will win this one and when they do I will be cheering like a Leaf fan seeing his team win the cup after 40 years of nothing!
