Dash cams: Would you stop?

So I watch a fair bit of dashcam videos, road rage videos, etc.

One thing I noticed is many of the cammer who would witness an accident, don?t pull over to wait for police. I would think that if you have the accident on camera, you would have the best account of the accident, so should you not stick around to show that evidence to police?

Especially ones where it is a hit and run, or someone was avoiding someone else?s stupidity, or road rage attempt and that is what caused the accident.

I don?t see how some would even prove they tried to avoid being side-swiped.

Would you stop if you caught an accident on your dashcam? I have dashcam and personally I would stop.

It only takes a few mins to save the feed and remove the microSD card and hand it over right? I'd like to think I'd have the forethought to do so.

See this is what I thought too.

I also thought you had a legal responsibility to stay but as a witness you don't from my understanding.

It seems in the US and Canada, most pull over. The UK is about 50/50 and Russia - forget it. But I guess in Russia, everyone has a dash cam so I guess there is not reason to stop.

Yes I would pull over and offer help within my qualifications only.
I would absolutely offer dash cam video if I had it.
I have been involved in an incident years ago before dash cams and thankfully one witness came forward to confirm my side of the accident.
You never know until you are in those shoes. Just pray someone has the fortitude to step up when you need them.

I love mine. Makes me feel more secure on the road. Not that it will prevent an accident but it will prevent some asshole form lying about the fault of the accident or it can identify someone who leaves the scene.

I personally think they should be mandatory.

If it was to be made mandatory, that would have to include the right of refusal to access of stored video.

If I spent a lot of time driving in and around the GTA, would be smart to install one.

I've had a dash cam for years. Not a very expensive one so thinking of upgrading. If I do I'm considering placing the old one on the back window. I've had several close calls of almost getting hit by a speeder from behind and I'm not a slow driver. Has anyone done this?

My camera system is front and back. I wouldn't have it any other way.
