My friend keeps complaining when gas goes up. His wife complaints about grocery prices going up, and so on. It doesn't matter to me one way or another, you still have to buy it. So why bitch about it?.

You make a good point. There is little anyone can really do about the fluctuation of prices, but if people could learn to define a budget, stick to it, and then live within their means, pricing wouldn't be quite as much of problem.

There will always be certain societal demographics that will be hit harder by commodity and service price increases, but generally speaking, governments usually take appropriate steps to address issue affecting the most vulnerable, and leaves everybody else to make their own tough choices.

The idea is to maximize the pricing on items that will sell and keep prices on products that experience slow sales. the most efficient way to lower prices is to refuse to buy at an inflated price.

I have always said the best way to lower gas prices is for one day no one, buy any.
But the logistics of that is crippled by the transportation of goods as well travel.

So you boycott prices on items you can do without, such as McDonald's.....Why eat breakfast there when we serve a delicious breakfast here, 5 days a week?

Exactly, if consumers didn't complain, nothing would change. It is our money that sellers survive on and change occurs when actions take place. So if you don't like the price of something complain, boycott, do something, your actions might be contagious

I noticed zone pricing and zone inventory when visiting Walmart's around the country. Walmarts in Vernon and Kamloops, BC are heavily stocked with items typically used by First Nations people because there's so many native people living there - from groceries to craft supplies.

In bigger cities, I've noticed that Walmarts near the poorest neighbourhoods stock a lot more 'dollar store' type items because they know their customers have very little disposable income.

I used to run a gas station many years ago, and it was so much fun when we had price wars. Sometimes they'd let the price go down by 10 cents or more. I remember pumping gas when it was 36 cents per litre.

I'm subject to increases in gas, electricity, etc. as well, which eventually get reflected in my rates. I went from 200 - 220 - 250 - 280 over the course of several years, always giving plenty of notice before I raise my prices and grandfathering my fees for regulars an additional amount of time (e.g. 6 mths). I might increase my rate to 300 some time next year as it'll be more expensive working from my own home than my current, rented location. If I didn't have to evict bad tenants I wouldn't be making these changes to my business and life. Being a landlady isn't always a treat.
