YEAH, i know it's a bad habit

Yes.

About 20 a day.

Can go up to 30 if I'm drinking.

Not trying to quit right now, but I have quit for a few longish periods, with many failed attempts.

My last cigerette was never. All smokers out there, we all have stress. Smoking is a bad habit (i also have other bad habits) but stay strong and try to quit.

It easy. Just QUIT

Do you smoke?

Do I smoke? HA!
Like a beagle in a lab test, I just can't stop.

Smoked a pack a day for the last 31 years.
Yes a shitload of money.
Yes bad for my health.
Yes an "Antisocial habit".
I enjoy it.
Bite me.

I love all things tobacco... Cigars, pipes, snuff, cigarettes, well with the exception of chewing tobacco, not too much of a fan of that. If it has latakia and perique in it I love it twice as much!

I enjoy a good cigar on a summer evening. Toying with dabbling in pipe smoking.

Never got into cigarettes.

I quit 5 years ago. Started again for about 7 months while I was away, quit again in Nov when I got home. Pretty easy, really. Don't know what all the "It's hard to quit" fuss is about.

Depends on person's metabolism. Just like some people can do social drinking and some gets alcoholic.

I quit back in 1977... and I did it with my own method...

What i did was roll up a whole bunch of joints and put them in a cigarette package... then every time I wanted a smoke, I smoked a joint... After about a week, or two, I was then able to taper off the dope fairly easily...

I don't recommend this for everyone, but at the time I was semi-retired and had no commitments, lived in a dope friendly home and so it was easy.

Ex smoker got asthma
My father passed away from it . He was oxygen and smoking. it caught on fire. At the time he was watching my niece 3 and nephew a baby.My 3 yr old niece phoned 911. The man was not an idiot, he was so addicted to smoking

Took me about 10 tries to stop uses Ziban, near smoke makes me sick. Also not being able to breath helped. To me smoking with all the information out there is a slow way for people to commit suicide and taking your loved ones too.

Yes ex smokers are the worst because we know what it is like and we know the feelings of giving it up and the struggle. So when I look at a young person smoking I realize that they either trying to kill themselves or they can not make good choices. An older person smoking, just plain stupid may has well save the health care system and put a gun to your head.

Its actually even easier than that.

To quit smoking, one needs to do only one thing... Its really so simple:

JUST DON'T LIGHT ANOTHER CIGARETTE... EVER.

That's it- you're cured. :great:

I smoke, cuz I'm hoping for an early death, and I need to cling to something...

What She Said, The Smiths

Actually, I smoke for several reasons:
- I'm a Montrealer and need to perpetuate the stereotype.
- I have a high-stress job that makes me need to take some time off outside and calm down with a cig, otherwise, I'd bring my battle-axe in to work at some point.
- I enjoy the act of smoking.

As for the "Just Quit" crowd, yes, they are mostly right. If you have an elevated level of physical activity, daily, your body will not crave the nicotine as much because you're replacing the nic rush with endorphins.

Yes - I too need to perpetuate the stereotype.
I keep a pack of Gauloises around to make sure that no one gets the wrong idea.

If like most guys your opportunity to become semi-retired occurred in your fifties, then your 33 odd years of being a non-smoker combined with your track record as a hobbyist make you one very impressive senior citizen.

My hat's off to you, sir!

I'd like to be banging the babes when I'm in my 80s too.

And if you were semi-retired at age 25, I'm just plain jealous.
