Do you think the Stepfather went a bit too far?.

Actually, if the police were called after her fired the shots in the air he would be arrested for careless use of a firearm. There was a CSI story about someone who did that and ended up killing a man on his front lawn (when the bullet hit terminal velocity going up, it came back down......).

As for your "common sense" comment, whether they lacked it or not, is irrelevant to the story. There are too many unknowns to make an accurate assessment.....

I'm not sure of the gun laws in that state but regardless the penalty for firing a firearm will be much less than 2 counts of 2nd. degree murder and numerous counts of attempted murder. Take out who's right and who's wrong but just for the sake of the Step Father he has officially ruined his life either way you dice it.

That's just it, you can't take out who's right and who's wrong and he's only officially ruined his life IF he's found guilty.

As I say in all cases like this: we only know what the news media wants to tell us. We weren't there, they weren't there and the cops weren't there. I'll reserve judgement until all the facts are known (and we'll probably never know).

Stories like this are just a small snapshot of a string of events. How can anyone pass judgement (fairly) without knowing the whole story?
