She should have just got a warning. She seemed to be out of it throughout the hearing and much of what she said didn't make sense. Also she was very young.

Judge was WAY out of line raising bail to "teach her respect". Unless the US is different, bail can only be raised on certain specified grounds and power-tripping over a stoned kid is not one of them

Jailing her was unnecessary.

no shit, she's in jail for drug possession and laughing her ass off.....making a mockery of the court, the judge etc. Whatever happened to respect? I guess her parents failed miserably.....

btw, if I understand it correctly, she only has to put up a percentage of the bail....so even at 10,000 bail, she only has to come up with 2 or 3 grand and like the judge said, if her jewelry is worth so much, she can sell it......

As far as I understand it you just have to have proof you can pay the bail. You don't have to pay a penny but full money-collateral will be placed is some sort of trust and if she doesn't show up, there goes the money. That is when either from Dad, Mom of family members have to help out.
