I drive quite a bit and would definitely love a self driving car. People say they won't change their mind until they see the costs of insurance & the convenience. Seeing you aren't in control of the car, you can't be at fault for the accident. Ever. Result? The manufacture of the car is. So your insurance = not much.


I just got back to Vancouver tonight after a trip to a few cities in the prairies. I drove from the airport in Calgary. 900 km's, probably 50 people that couldn't keep a steady speed, the usual fear of the Coke and there was flurries in the Lower Mainland. That makes people brain dead. Normally people in Vancouver drive like fucking assholes but they become puffballs when it snows and fear striken. I spent 5 minutes in the Abbottsford area pulled over for doing 110 in a 110 zone after I flew by the cop in the hammer lane. I said I was in cruise doing the speed limit it's just I can actually drive with "light flurries". In Burnaby an SUV cut me off at highway speeds.

We need self driving cars. Let's face it. The majority of people cannot operate a car properly. They introduced graduated licensing and it did nothing. That's because it's actually not that hard to drive a car. You keep it between two lines, don't follow too close and obey the law. #NotHard. It's just people do NOT give a fuck about other people so the best thing we can do is let the car drive itself.

I've never thought about the fact that the younger generation's, "me first" attitude could impact traffic flow to this extent.
