When will they get it Damn-Not too smart

A Miami woman charged with DUI manslaughter allegedly texted her boyfriend "Drunk driving woo" just minutes before a fatal collision that killed her passenger.

Mila Dago had been fighting with her boyfriend and sending him a barrage of breakup texts in the early hours of Aug. 14, 2013, according to documents released by the prosecution on Thursday.

The last three messages, minutes before the fatal crash, were "Driving drunk woo,

" "I'll be dead thanks to you," and "Lata."

Then, according to the , she blew through a red light and T-boned a moving truck with her rented Smart car, killing friend and passenger Irina Reinoso, 22.

She had a blood-alcohol level of .178, more than twice the legal limit, two hours later, police said.

Dago, 24, has pleaded not guilty to DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and two counts of DUI with damage to a person

Defence lawyer David Rothman told the Herald it would be "disrespectful" to Reinoso's family to comment.

sounds as if she tried to kill herself and failed.

prison should help that along.

She was wrong, she deserves to be punished but remember this was a hurt woman. The world had fallen apart in her eyes. I'm not making excuses for her but how many of us do things we are not suppose to do when faced with dealing with tough situations and by the grace of God (just a saying I'm not religious) go I.....is a fitting quote in many instances....:wink2:

  • Kayla Mendoza boasted about being drunk before she killed Kaitlyn Ferrante and Marisa Catronio in South Florida in November 2012
  • Family members of both victims attended the sentencing, where they wore shirts with a photo of the two best friends
  • Mendoza had faced a maximum of 30 years behind bars

A South Florida woman who tweeted about being drunk minutes before a fatal wrong-way crash that killed two 21-year-old women was sentenced Monday to 24 years in prison.
A judge also said 22-year-old Kayla Mendoza will remain on probation for six years after her release.
Mendoza pleaded guilty in February to two DUI manslaughter charges in the November 2013 crash that killed best friends Kaitlyn Ferrante and Marisa Catronio.
Prior to the sentencing, Mendoza tearfully read a letter to the families of Kaitlyn and Marisa.
‘This all may be my fault, but at the end of the day, I’m a human being just like everyone else,’ Mendoza said. ‘I have a heart, and it aches everyday. The guilt is overwhelming. I want to speak about this accident with everyone so that I can prevent this from ever happening again.’

What a shame.
