Best wishes to people who lives in Chile.
Powerful earthquake kills scores in Chile, prompts tsunami fears

Very sad, but unfortunately it seems we are seeing more and more natural catastrophes.

Earthquake!! Did you feel it?

Earthquake!! Did you feel it?

Felt it for 20+ seconds here in Ottawa, enough to shake the whole house and things inside. Nothing fell down thou.

Did you feel it - and where?

Reports have come in that people from Toronto, to Ottawa to Montreal and through Vermont have felt it.

I felt it. Everything in my office was trembling, including the ceiling tiles. We heard the structure creaking.

I think it was only 7 or 8 seconds for me.

Excitement in an otherwise dull day.

Reports are it was a 5.5 earthquake. ~ 1:41 pm EST Speculation is the epicentre was 53 km North East from Ottawa.

Office towers all evacuated here in the National Capital; alarms going off everywhere.

Side note: Ribfest continues on Sparks St. mmm, Ribs!

That was amazing! I had no idea if it was just my building shaking because of construction or something... apparently it was 5.7 on the Richter Scale, epicentre near Buckingham, QC.

That was so cool! :)

Didn't feel a thing... Cambridge must be immune! :) (One of the wives of one of the guys here called in and said it was apparently felt as far away as Windsor...)

I'll bet it had something to do with the G20!

I did "experience" one about 12-13 years ago in London, Ontario though... and you're right, the small ones actually feel kinda neat. (I don't want to experience any of the bigger ones... EVER!)

Just got back from a lunchtime meeting and was in my car so didn't feel a thing. Years ago, a similar quake was felt around the GTA and I lived in Rosedale at the time, right behind Mt Pleasant cemetary, thought it was one of the backhoes that was shaking the ground, then thought it was the boiler going to explode, then I felt the entire house shake...bolted for cover, then I heard it was an earthquake. Really odd feeling, kind of like losing your equalibrium.

Was it more women being provocative in dress?

Was it more women being provocative in dress?

I recall a recent article and news item about some Iranian cleric saying it was women who dressed provocatively whom caused earthquakes, as they expose their modesty to us weak men.

Suffice it to say, more than likely it was some 'guy tectonic' plate was just trying to grind-up against some 'girl tectonic' plate.

Leads me to think how fun it would have been to be 'rocking the casbah' during the quake.

Instead, I'll now go back to making 'I Survived the Canadian Quake of 2010' T-Shirts for Canada Day!

Felt it here! Fun times had all around at the day job, hoo boy. We're still calming the residents down.

I felt it up here in Muskoka and just thought it was the M1A1 abrams tank rolling through town.....either that or Randygirl was having a hot time up in Sudbury!!!

I mean, I've had orgasms before where I felt the earth move........

More scientifically though, I thought we weren't supposed to get them up here due to the Canadian Shield??? Maybe we've drilled through it so many times it's starting to break up.....(kind of like brad and jen)
