Elderly woman dies after nurse refuses to do CPR.

The truth comes out.

A woman who died after a nurse at her elder home refused to provide CPR had chosen to live in a facility without medical staff and wanted to pass away without life-prolonging intervention, her family said Tuesday.

Lorraine Bayless' family said in a statement to The Associated Press that it does not plan to sue the independent living facility where the 87-year-old woman died last week.

I have been certified a few times in CPR and I have never had to apply the procedure on anyone. In class, it is always covered that you will break a few ribs when performing CPR correctly. Can anyone relay what type of internal trauma will occur to an elderly patient receiving CPR?

Well, I successfully did CPR on my father twice. Once I was 16 and had taken the course for a Summer camp job. The second time I was 23, a week before convocation from university, my dad wasn't able to attend due to hospitalization. I was taken aback when one of my professors and my football coach attended to the hospital to present my degree, something my mother arranged. Often I wonder if I did the right thing because my father suffered for many years afterwards, but I'm glad that I did it. Yes, I broke his ribs both times because the first set of compressions is fueled by adreneline then I was able to calm down and be steady.

Bayliss' daughter is a nurse! I think that is the right thing for the family in this instance. I do hope that their policies are changed because of this.

this story is truly sad ........i hope karma hits this nurse upside the head
