I guess there is no more movie review forum, so I'll post this here.

Decent science fiction film with beautiful, amazing CGI visuals, stars Matt Damon and Jodie Foster . Plot is earth about 100 years from now with the poor masses living on earth and the wealthy living on spacestation/biospherish habitat orbiting earth.

Not quite as intense as I thought it would be, but was enjoyable none the less, a solid 7.5/10

I want to see this......But I am not a Matt Damon fan...just like Tom Cruise I think they are both weak in their acting skills for Sci-Fi...

Just my opinion.....

The premise of the film and even according to its' female lead is political: ""Unfortunately for them, Jodie Foster has stated the obvious in Variety. According to her, "Elysium" is indeed political:

“I thought ‘District 9′ was probably the most perfect movie that I had seen in a really long time, and I just really wanted to be in his next movie,” Foster says, but the actress also notes that the film’s social message was a major draw for her.

“The film has such a strong sociopolitical murmur, and it has such a strong insight into the ‘haves and have-nots,’ ” Foster says.""

I saw it on Friday. I thought the concept had strong parallels to the directors other famous film District 9. I enjoyed Elysium and I thought it was well done, but I thought District 9 was much better. I do get tired of the "shaky camera" thing that seems to be in vogue these days, too. It is worth seeing if you enjoy science fiction or action films.

I really want to see this movie. I know the previews always show the best parts of the movie, to get you hooked to go see it, and I have seen enough movies to know that it's pretty much 50/50 in how I feel after watching them. My next movie is free with my Scene card, so I will use it for that, and report back.

I love how they make movies that show the rich as the bad guys and champion the poor. Meanwhile, I don't see them taking pay cuts to lower the prices of movies for the real poor folk out there.

mikey moore is a great example of championing the poor by attacking his fellow rich folk

I went to see it this afternoon. It's competently directed, lots of action & visual effects, but definitely the storytelling suffered a little compared to District 9. I think there were some twists in the story that were hard to figure out why it was necessary or just hamfistedly added in for no apparent reason. But if you overlook those, it's one of the better sci-fi's of the season.

I do wish they'd spent more time developing the political story about the haves and have-nots and how the haves have hoarded all of their medical healing beds and stuff.
