I have to tell this one to 4 of my closest 5 friends.
Maybe you are the issue if 4 out of 5 friends suffer depression. :biggrin2:
First ever blood test to diagnose depression :YMAPPLAUSE:
Great maybe they can find the other mental illnesses in a blood test it would have saved me years of ER rooms and crises.
Hold on a minute.
We all have depression tendencies. How good you can control it depends on your mental attitude.
Always highs and lows, never a straight line.
Yep. Some are more checmically prone to depression, but in the end, it's all up to our own selves. WHile I know medication for depression is at an all time high, I see it as a crutch in so many cases where the "patient" just doesn't want to deal with reality.
I have depression. It's a mild case. When it first started hitting me I would go for days not caring if I lived or died (not suicidal, I just didn't give a shit). This is totally not me! We tried out a psychologist but I didn't have anything to complain about or be sad about. My emotions and thinking just changed....I didn't want to go out or do anything or see anyone. My emotional highs were okay but I'd have some really bad lows that I couldn't shake off. Once I started the prozac (at the minimum dose) I became more level and didn't get that "Fuck it all" feeling any more. I don't get overly intense about anything anymore either.
They said it was a chemical depression....I tended to agree as I saw no real reason for it and talking about it didn't do anything to help it. Believe me, I tried to shake it off but sometimes it doesn't go away.
I'm surprised that OG would say its controllable without medicine and up to our own selves. How do you balance brain chemicals by your own self? I know there are self affirmations and other exercises out there, but how exactly do you deal with something that is just a chemical imbalance that is part of your individual biology?
