This man would not shut up, yap yap yap. When we tried to have our say he would interrupt us and continued with the me me conversation. It was all about him and how much he knew. Guess the dick forgot the number one rule of a conversation.

Don't talk too long without pausing for a reaction. For an educated man he made himself look like an idiot.

What other rules are there for the art of conversation. How do you members deal with a situation like this one. The gf and I moved to a different table during dessert.

Some people just don't get it. I have a 'friend' that I've known for over 20 years who does this.

I've told him very directly how rude and annoying it is. His extended family has also told him directly in a serious manner and they all make jokes about him for it. It's been going on as long as I've known him and he never changes.

He misses out on a lot of things (golf dates, UFC nights, etc.) because of it. He'll enter a conversation, listen for a minute or so until he has something to add, and then the verbal diarrhea starts. He just can't seem to help himself.

Funny thing is, his Dad is the same way.

It's called being internet warriors. Everyone seems to have a huge set of balls on the internet and are keyboard gladiators, when met in real life, those same assholes who may piss you off, would likely not say a word to you...case in point, Sheik at the party.

It has nothing to do with political correctness and everything to do with respecting your fellow board members. It's also about learning to let things go, which you seem to seriously have problems doing. As you said yourself, these are "pretend" people, so why carry on like this?

The difference between CG and the OP's situation is that here, as stated, you can simply ignore the person and move on. Yet you don't do that.

In the op's situation, it is a REAL LIFE situation and etiquette comes into play.

The only thing worse than the me me me talker is the me me me talker combined with a "one better". A one better is a person who waits for you to tell 2 seconds of a story, then tops that with one of his own that goes on for 30 minutes.
