Ford Blows a Gasket

I am embarrassed that Rob Ford is our mayor –he has to go!

I have to ask: why? Sure he isn't prim and polished like so many of the past mayors but he is being financially responsible and isn't handing the city over to the unions....

So, would you rather have someone like Ford, or have the city in bankruptcy/pay higher taxes/have out of control spending?

Ford might not be a handsome, well-spoken fella, but he's exactly what TO needs right now
(fiscally speaking)

Ok. Let me see if I understand this correctly.

CBC, using our tax dollars, sends a "has been" comedien, who never was funny, to the harass the mayor at the break of dawn on his private property.

The Mayor calls 911 and it takes over 10 minutes for TPS to respond

The details of the mayor's 911 call(s) are leaked by the Toronto Police Service.

And the focus of the media is that the Mayor said the 'B' word.

What's wrong with this picture??

Yesterday, Police Chief Blair, after hearing the recording, confirmed that Ford did not use the 'B' word. So now can we focus on the real issues here? I.e.

Has the CBC outlived it's usefulness and should we maybe take the piece of shit, sad excuse for a broadcaster, out of its misery?
Who leaked the 911 recording? That head should roll.
Why does it take over 10 minutes for the police to respond to a 911 call? (please, don't give me budget excuses).

Mayor Ford (who has 3 more years) should read Bill 168 of the OHSA. He's a bad manager.

Chief Blair is supporting Mayor Ford, so the police budget will increase annually and Ford will rubber stamp it.
In fact, I believe Ford and Blair were at toys-r-us this morning shopping for tanks, helicopters, bazookas and bags full of army men that will be painted blue with TPS on them for strategic positioning in bad areas.

Cops are usually there with a parking ticket in under 10 seconds

That's funny because last I heard, it was the parking authority that issued parking tickets......

As you plainly stated Esco: No matter what he does, says, or fricken talks on his cellphone at a red light, he's head and shoulders above any other politico you've had in that seat. Well, maybe not Mayor Mel, but close.

Frankly, I don't give a shit if he calls ANYONE a bitch, bastard, cocksucker, neanderthal, or fuck tard. I've had ENOUGH of politicians who pussy foot around worrying about who they are going to offend instead of doing what needs to be done.

What would impress me even more is if he went on record and openly stated: those lousy greedy cocksuckers in the garbage and ttc unions can kiss my sweaty white ass. Their stranglehold on this city is FUCKING OVER......

Really, would you rather have someone like Miller who not only signed over the city to the unions, but gift wrapped it? Take the garbage strike: the union holds the city ransom, then what does miller do? Gives them carte blanche to charge overtime to clean up the fucking mess they made. Not only did he give them what they wanted, but paid them back for every hour they were out on strike......

Absolutely, tboy. I find it amusing how these left wing political organizations like the star and cbc (somewhat tongue in cheek), just can't let go of the fact that Ford won the election. They whine and whine about every little thing he does. It's incredible the shit they latch on to. Oh, Ford doesn't know marg attwood! Ford uses cell phone in car!! Ford says bitch!! Give it a rest already.

I for one am happy to see Ford tell the CBC to go fuck itself!! He's not going to be cornered into a bullshit interview with a no good has been just to keep the CBC and it's pinko viewers happy. Good for Ford.

You are partly right, its mostly parking officers. But cops also write a fair amount of parking tickets.
In fact I got one from a sexy female cop last month

Did you unzip your fly and show her what she could have if she rips up the ticket?

As for Ford, he's my boy. I didn't vote for him because I'm a 905er but I would have if I could have.

Also the chief of police has listened to the 911 call and confirms Rob Ford did NOT use bad language or call anyone a bitch:

Bill Blair: “I have listened to the three emergency calls. The mayor did not use the word “bitches,” attributed to him by those ‘several anonymous sources.’ The mayor did not describe himself as the original account claimed.”

If I were Ford I'd sue the fucking pants off CBC for a few $million

"This Hour Has 22 Minutes" has been on the air since 1993 with largely the same format. It is both widely known in the general public, and pretty much universally known to public figures. It is a comedy show. It focuses mostly on high profile public figures. It does a fair bit of ambush comedy. I repeat ambush comedy, not ambush journalism (which is unacceptably barring some select circumstances). The Xena skit has been on the air since Xena was. The camera truck was visibly and she had a labelled mic. So, after almost 20 years on the air this becomes a big issue now. Uhh, huuu. No joke, I'm sure the current CBC will bend over backward because of this faux outrage... (I'm willing to bet that the overlap of the 'Kill the CBC' crowd and the 'Ford Nation crowd' is pretty close to perfect.) But come on... IF A POST MENOPAUSAL WOMAN IN SEASONALLY APPROPRIATE, IF NOT AGE APPROPRIATE, ATTIRE CAUSES ROB FORD THAT MUCH TROUBLE HE HAS NEVER BEEN OUTSIDE OF CITY HALL AFTER DARK. Ever. This 'CBC crossed the line' thing is a little convenient and many years late to the show.

The show stopped being funny a long time ago - around about the time the CBC stopped being credible or relevant.

This should shut a few of you.

TORONTO - The man Sun News Network's Ezra Levant calls "the boss of the CBC in Parliament” is not at all impressed with comedian Mary Walsh's decision to accost Toronto's mayor at his home last week.

The controversial This Hour Has 22 Minutes skit, which went completely awry, has Canadians from coast to coast weighing in on whether it was right or wrong.
When Heritage Minister James Moore appeared Tuesday on The Source with Levant, he didn't mince words. "I think Mary Walsh's behaviour was out of line," Moore said. "And I don't think she can be defended for what she did."

Walsh was dressed as her character Marg Delahunty, Princess Warrior, when she and her camera crew had the run-in with Ford in the driveway of his home.
Levant said it showed "an edge" that he's "never seen when the CBC tackles Liberal politicians like Bob Rae or Jean Chretien."

Moore said Ford has a "great sense of humour" and he's been "pretty open about letting people into his life."
He added that if the CBC, or Mary Walsh, had approached Ford in advance, the mayor no doubt would have gladly taken part.
"But I think she violated, clearly, what was the boundary between the public and private space of a public person," Moore said, "and I don't think what she did can be defended."

Moore also said the Warrior Princess character has been around nearly 20 years and he'd expect "more imagination" than violating Ford in his "private, family space."

You're not seriously going to use any source related to Quebecor for anything related to the CBC are you? REALLY?! Really. It's like me going the Mormons for information on evolution. Frankly, the CBC has already gone too far in placating right wingers that want to eat them. They're way too sensitive about claims of them being too Liberal or too left, and have stacked their lineup with too much red meat for the right, and they'll likely be way too sensitive about claims of 'ambush' in the future.

And like I said before, the fact that he didn't use the word 'bitch' is a total hand wave by the police chief. It's something for the remaining nub of Ford supporters to waive their hands about, while failing to address the crux of the mayor's second call, or the fact that the mayor's story has already 'evolved' considerably, doesn't match the video, stretches credibility, was poorly managed by him (by turning it into a multi-day story), and makes him look incredibly lame. As far as anything Sun / Quebecor has to say about anything, particularly anything about the CBC, uhh, good luck with that.

@LickingGravity: I'm not actually a huge fan of 22 Minutes / Air Farce (Off the air) / Mercer. That doesn't mean that they don't have a decent viewer base, or aren't well known nationally.

The right wing's belly aching about the CBC and the Toronto Star being biased is sickening. Let me name off some biased right wing ideological fanatical media outlets

640 Talk Radio-John Oakley, Arlene Bynon, Charles Atlar are the most obvious,
The Sun Newpaper and The Sun channel
The Fox Network
CFTO
1010 Talk Radio-Jerry Agar, Jim Richards, John Tory just to name a few

It's incredible the war the right wing has waged and turned the middle class against themselves as working people.
