Made with Love

Fuck this...

It's nice to see someone realizing they need some TLC attention paid to their body.

Veggies, lean proteins and fruit are your friends.

Holy crap some of you are big fuckers lol.....

Luckily I can still drop 10 lbs in a few days if I really want to....always been that way.

I'm a firm believer in less is more and abide by repo's eating 6 smaller meals as opposed to 2 or 3 big ones. Plus cut out fat and carbs and anything high in anything.

I don't think you necessarily want to lose weight, just firm what you have up. That means more exercise and I am also a firm believer in "burning fuel". This means if you are carrying excess fuel (aka fat) then you want your engine (your body) to burn off more fuel than it's taking in. Believe it or not I worked out 5 - 6 days a week and combined universal machine/aerobics class/running/lifecycle/swimming and in 2 weeks lost 27 lbs....so much so the hottie that signed me up started buying me food after my workout. It got so bad that I went from 2 meals a day to 6 GOOD meals (I'm talking half a chicken each, 2 pork chops, or similar) just to maintain by current weight.

One more thing I read a lot on: the 6 smaller meals will increase your body's desire to burn the fuel you're taking in instead of storing it for later use. What happens is if you eat a large meal, every 4 or so hours, your body says "rut roh, I'm not going to get any fuel for a long time, I better keep some of this in reserve (aka fat). When you eat every couple of hours your body says "heyyy I'm going to get more fuel in an hour, I can burn this stuff up right now...yipppeeee" and there goes the fuel you took in, and some of your fuel you have in reserve........

Oh yeah, another thing: don't be thinking so much about quick results...it ain't gonna happen. It is way too easy to put on weight and 10x harder to get rid of it so this could be a long drawn out process.......

May I suggest the book 4-Hour Body? The author Tim Ferris has lived his life as an experiment for all sorts of things and has learned a lot. His book is big but it has the quick read version and the scientific version with all the research and details. His suggested diet for weight loss is simple and easy (but with little variety). Perhaps not for everyone, but it does work. I am a big fan of his blog which has all sorts of inspirational articles from people living their lives to the fullest. Not sure about the rules about posting links but if you Google him you'll get his blog and info.

Best of luck!

I wouldn't worry about protein that contains fat because as we know fat has no influence on insulin.

Fat/protein calories have jobs to do within the body-they contribute to ''up to'' 85% of energy requirement determined by metabolic rate. Carbohydrate doesn't: this needs to be burned as fuel or it will be stored as fat.

Insulin has been called the fattening hormone for a good reason and only carbohydrate calories stimulate the release of insulin; fat/protein calories have no impact on insulin.

One thing that I found (and I totally agree with what Tboy said above) is that you just have to keep active. After I retired I sort of just parked my ass in a chair and did nothing giving my body a chance to recover after the abuse that I put it through. I'm down 15 pounds now and I take my dog for a walk for 1/2 hour every 2 hours during the day. It keep my metabolism up and with a minor reduction in food intake I've taken 3 inched off my waste.
Jack Lalanne once said that "every inch you take off your waste you add a 1/4 inch to your peepee." I'm going to add at least 1.5 inches. Then my peepee will stick out 3 inches.

SH thank you for the peepee info, I'm sure Gom will be impressed.

The small 6 meals a day really works. I mainly eat protein, vegetable and haven't worked out in about 10 years and still have a 30 inch waist.

A1 no fear because it's in your control still.

Thanks for the intel folks. I'm not worried, not in fear of dropping dead or anything like that, just want to shed a few pounds and have my pants a bit looser. I have gained and lost literally hundreds of pounds in my life, so it is really nothing new to me... just a bit frustrated this time that I let it go so far. The way I have always done it is to eat mainly protein with fruits and vegetables as carbs, and cutting out pretty well everything else unless my body tells me it needs it. Surprisingly I'm still in not bad shape, I can still bench 200lbs. and run 2 miles straight (though it takes be a while and I'm winded when I'm finished). If I go the same way as I always have, I can expect to lose about 3 lbs. a week and not suffer too much while doing it.

2 Million Pounds of Food Recalled

This has been a big week for food product recalls and the risk of food borne illness.
Seven confirmed and three likely cases of E. coli infection linked to raw clover sprouts have been reported, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Thursday.

The patients are all in either Idaho or Washington. Half the people who have fallen ill have been hospitalized.

Preliminary investigations indicate the likely source of this outbreak are raw clover sprouts produced by Evergreen Fresh Sprouts LLC of Idaho, the CDC said. The state departments of health in Washington and Idaho are telling consumers not to eat raw clover sprouts produced by Evergreen Fresh Sprouts.

Meanwhile, hummus and dip products totaling about 14,860 pounds are being voluntarily recalled by Lansal Inc. amid concerns about possible bacterial contamination.

At the same time, Sherman Produce is recalling some bulk and packaged walnuts sold to retailers in Missouri and Illinois.

These two recalls are precautionary measures against possible Listeria monocytogenes, which may cause serious and even fatal infections in people with weakened immune systems, such as the elderly.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with either recall, the respective companies said.

Both companies advise consumers who bought the recalled products to throw them out or return them for a full refund. The products should not be eaten.

Also this week, the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service said 1.8 million pounds of ground beef products were being recalledbecause they could be contaminated with a strain of E.coli.
