For those who care, this is what I've been up to.
I've been working with a few bands in and around GTA and one in Austin TX (by wire). I'm gigging kind of regularly with one band that is doing cover tunes and that's been very cool, especially getting out in front of people again and watching themselves enjoy the music and atmosphere. I've taken to singing a couple of tunes but mostly provide background vocals. One of our bandmates father is a former touring musician and he came to me and said I have a great voice and should sing lead more often, that was very kind of him. He hooked me up with a band that was looking for a drummer that can provide another level of melody. That was very cool.
Been doing some writing workshops with two other bands. One is a progressive rock quad and the other is more contemporary three piece. I didn't feel one of the songs with the prog rock band had the right vocals so I asked if I could try the lead and laid it down in the studio. The result was a very pissed off lead singer LOL. The other band members really liked it and the sound engineer also gave me a nice compliment. It would be a hard task to sing that and play drums at the same time live though.
The Austin band is rockabilly. I'm not so turned on by it, but the audience has been kind and received us well. I did a gig at the Cadillac a while back when their drummer couldn't make the border check LOL. I'm a free hired gun for their tracks by wire. It's fun and they have a good following in the states.
I haven't had a 9-5 in a while. Fortunately, I received a very nice compensation package which has afforded me to take some time off and pursue music.
I've been seeing a few of my regulars but mainly one who has let me come in to her personal life. She's been to my home many times and I've been to hers. We share in our exploits and have a few laughs about it. I told her of a groupie that I unwillingly picked up from a small bar gig and she's been providing free services LOL. My regular asked if she was worthy of a threesome with us and I said I'd be afraid of the groupie getting jealous and knifing her, so no.
My family court woes are recommencing in late June. I ignore all of the emails and letters from her lawyer. From the last correspondence and court date, I've left all of the paper work on my desk in the original sealed envelope. I refuse to have someone bring me down because of their selfishness and idiocy on my current high. I have a reminder in my calendar to open all of the correspondence 2 weeks before the next court date. She can go eat a dick.
I've run in to one idiot that I had no choice but to put her in her place. She held up traffic because she was too interested on what was on her phone. I honked at her a couple of times to move forward and she ignored it. On the third time she did this in a two lane roadway, I went around her on the left when oncoming traffic was clear and got in front of her. I guess she took this to offence as I could see she wasn't happy from my rear view. My SUV is quite hard to miss and when someone with a small vehicle like hers, gets in too close behind me, I can't see them. So she decides to tailgate me and waits until we come to another red light and I see her get out of her car to confront me. I didn't say a word to her as she's yelling at me but reach for the door handle and get out of my truck and walk around to the rear and see that the nose of her car is under my rear bumper. I told her "Get the fuck back in your car and pay attention to the road and go home to your loser boyfriend and smoke some weed or crack or whatever else you fucking losers do and complain about people who are more successful then you." She continued to fill my ears with her tirade. "If you don't get in your car, I'm gonna pick you up by the scruff of your neck and put you there myself" Well that didn't work so I got back in my truck and I put it in reverse and did a little brake torque. She freaked out and got in her car. I put it in drive and drove away. She did not follow me. Idiot dealt with.

Good luck with your new gig and next time you encounter an idiot, just ignore them and go on your way, it's less stressful and less likely to escalate the issue when you ignore Happy trails.
