What is this 1955? Who the fuck strives to join a Union?
The only things Unions do;
-is drive up the cost of what the manufacturer is building/making
-make the average worker into a lazy Slob!
Unions are gayer than a rainbow full of dicks!
unfortunately that is the end result and I used to feel the same way about unions....but I've come to realize that unions strive to equalize the wealth. A perfect example of this is air canada. Last year (i think it was) management was demanding that all employees lose benefits, work longer hours and take a cut in pay "to save the company" since it was in financial distress...then afterwards it is announced that the president received a $20 million bonus package on top of his (I think) $15 million salary....
Then there was the time that management asked us to cut one day a week out of our salary because the company was in a slow down.....that's 20% cut in pay.....it was hard....then the president shows up the following monday in a brand new $80,000.00 jaguar.......

Unions over the last 10 years have been literally taking a shit kicking because the public has bought into the anti union right wing agenda but let me ask you this question. Wages, benefits and layoffs have occurred in every sector why has your cost of living NOT GONE DOWN?
Your Canadian dollar is almost a par or better than your US counterpart, WHY HAVEN'T PRICES COME DOWN?
The price of a barrel of oil is down, WHY HAVEN'T PRICES COME DOWN?
Where are those savings going? I will tell you where they are NOT going and that is into the poor schleps pocket who was downsized or asked to give up what they've fought for in past years!!
Would you be happy if every unionised worker was making $10.56 an hour with no benefits?
As a union representative I from now on walk into The Man's office and just say "YES SIR, you know best please pay us what you think is fair Sir"
Would you as part of the intelligent public cheer us on then?? You have never driven a bus, taught 30 screaming students, had to dig a hole in the ground during hot scorching weather but as a member of the public you know for sure that they are over paid and under worked and therefore it shall be. How dare anyone stop for a coffee at Tim's because it's a waste of tax payers money. Then you go sit behind your computer at work an log on to HUBGFE and bitch and complain about union workers!!
This rush to the bottom is for the regular folks while the elite rush to the top!
A company which is fairly managed, the employees feel appreciated and are
fairly compensated rarely vote in a union. Trust me I know!
Everyone loves to criticize TTC employees, teachers, posties, LCBO workers but while doing so ask yourself what you would do in their shoes having to put up with a resentful public. They are
taking home pays of approx. $600 to $800 a week and are being portrayed as being overpaid? It's a living is all it is but hey let's take them back to $400 a week take home pay so the CEO they work for could buy a bigger home!!
