Has anyone here ever tried to quit smoking?

OK... you failed... (resisting the incredible temptation to post all sorts of "Fail" pics... but I won't... since you already know you fucked up...)

Time to try again SillyGirl!

Get rid of the rest of the pack. IMMEDIATELY (But NOT by burning them one at a time!  :grrrrrr:)

You haven't failed per se, it's just a relapse, and if you're still dedicated to quitting, you can get through this. But the only way it'll happen is if you decide not to let this minor setback stop you from achieving your overall goal - freeing yourself of the nicotine addiction, once and for all.

You know you can do this; that's how you quit in the first place. Now, you just have to believe you can keep doing it, and throw out those vile cancer sticks before they suck you back in... you know you can do this! :great:

Thanks

Thanks

I did toss the pack.

Not being sure I can do it is the biggest issue I have.

Maurice, LOL, I'm not a tough girl. Not today, anyway.

I'm told it can take up to eight relapses before it takes for good ... each time it is longer before the next potential relapse ... don't give up just look at the reason that caused you to relapse.

I don't think you relapsed because you are not sure you can do it, I think you relapsed because of all the stress you are under with hiding all those bodies ... curbing your homicidal tendencies might help here.

You are tougher than you think.

Most of us are when are back is against the wall.

You just have realize That is exactly where you are and start to fight like hell.

I quit smoking just over 3 years ago. I'll be honest... it was hard as hell, but I made it through. I used a combination of nicotine patches and Zyban. I honestly don't think the Zyban helped any, the biggest help was the patches. The withdrawal effects are brutal and the patches really eased it a lot.

However, I did a modified patch treatment... if I remember right, there's 3 or 4 strengths of patches and the manufacturer's recommendation is to take weeks to go from one dose down to the next. I have no patience and I thought it was silly to stretch it out so long. I did 1 week for each strength starting at the 2nd highest (the highest was too high for me... made me dizzy). The first day of each lessened dose was hard, but that's going to be the case whether you stretch it out or do it quickly.

It's not easy... to this day there are times I would kill for a smoke, but with time, it becomes less and less. I've talked to people who have quit for decades and the occasional desire for a smoke never goes away, but it's more fleeting as time goes by.

Try and focus on something and keep it in mind, it will help. At the time I quit, cigarettes had just gone up to $10 a pack, and I was smoking a pack a day. I focused on the fact that I would save $300 a month by not smoking. Course, at that time little did I know I would take those savings and trade it for another addiction... hobbying.

Keep at it Silly Girl... you can do eeeeet!!

Thank you all for being so nice.

This just sucks...I won't be curbing any homicidal urges.

I might need some accomplices.
