The son of Minnesota Vikings running back is reportedly on life support at a South Dakota hospital, the victim of alleged child abuse.
TMZ reported that Peterson's 2-year-old son was brutally beaten by his mother's boyfriend in Sioux Falls, S.D., Wednesday evening. Emergency responders found the child unresponsive at the apartment where he lives and rushed him to a local hospital, where doctors found evidence of abuse.

The 27-year-old Joseph Patterson was arrested and charged with aggravated felony assault and battery of an infant.

The Minnesota City Pages, quoting a family source, says the child isn't expected to survive his injuries and may be taken off life support as early as Friday evening

"Unless God provides some sort of miracle, he's gone,"
the source told the City Pages.

TMZ reports that Peterson's son, who suffered severe head injuries, hasn't had any brain activity since Thursday.

"All I can say is, we are asking for prayers and for respect for our family as we deal with this tragic situation," Nelson Peterson said.

The "secret" child was reportedly the result of a casual relationship between a Minnesota woman and Peterson, who just recently learned he was the boy's father.
Peterson left the Vikings on Thursday for "personal reasons," but was back with the team the next day and will reportedly address the media in the upcoming hours.
Minnesota hosts the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Head coach Leslie Frazier said Peterson is expected to play.

Heartbreaking for Peterson. He is actually planning on playing on Sunday though - thoughts?

Sports is as good as a distraction as any I suppose...helps him focus on something else instead of grieve.
 
Here's a novel idea, instead of beating on the child give him back to his father.

This crap makes me sick.
