I'm healthy as a horse as well but still get it every year as an added precaution. I wouldn't want to inadvertently pass anything onto someone else and vice versa.

I got my flu shot yesterday. I feel fine today. I remember in the past feeling a little

I saw on the TV news last night that Toronto hospitals are being overwhelmed with cases of influenza. They say it's normal to get a lot of cases this time of year, but this year it's a higher than expected. They're adding more capacity. Didn't say how they are doing that.
But they did say it wouldn't be near as bad if more people had taken the free flu shot.

Keep in mind the nature of a flu shot. Months before flu season, the makers guess at which of the thousands of strains of flu (all different) will hit this winter, and prepare dead viruses so your body's immune system builds antibodies against those viruses. Guess the wrong virus strain, and you have little or no effect from a flu shot. Some years they guess right, some wrong. There's literlaly thousands of flu viruses, all different, circulating so it's a crap shoot and impossible to cover them all.
Even if they guess wrong, though, priming the immune system often helps prevent or cut down the severity of flu that is "similar" to one in the injection. And sometimes, depending on your immune system, you have no defence and get a nasty flu. That's what's happening this winter: the flu most people are getting wasn't in this year's flu shot, and it's nasty! Still, I have yet to get a cold or flu this season, although that's more a matter of a strong immune system and good hygiene (as well as luck) than the flu shot I get.
