There are two kayak roof kits at canadian tire. one sits on the roof and really is just a piece of foam and some tie downs. $39.95

or you can get j racks that attach to the roof racks for $134.95

why buy them from honda?

We can only service purchases made from United States. All purchases must be made from within the US with a US bank issued credit card with matching US billing address.

And in other news; the sun will rise tomorrow morning.

Companies have been screwing Canadians royally for years and we take it up the ass like the sheep that we are.

Go to Chapters to buy a book and there is a U.S. price $29 and CAN $42.
They were quite upset when I said I refused to be anally raped in public and left a stack of purchases behind. I even offered to pay in U.S. funds at the lower advertised price but they would not have it.

All the car manufacturers have cross-border protectionist schemes.

I could go on and on with examples in software, designer clothes, cell phones.
Canadians get fucked on price.

CG instead of doing it on-line, call a dealer in the U.S. tell him what you want and arrange to pick it up at their location on one of your trips and PAY CASH. People still like cash, ask any SP.

The sad part is that the Canadian economy will take a hit in the long run. People are not stupid and will shift their buying patterns for lower price. Just look at the amount of illegal tobacco that comes in through Indian reserves due to obscene taxing.

The J racks aren't the problem. I don't have the bare bones roof rack on my truck... And I'm kind of a stickler about fit... That's the reason... If you know of an aftermarket version that is compatible I'm all ears. (I haven't researched this properly yet...)

I've done that too! But for greeting cards! LOL Poor girl behind the counter had no idea what to do! LOL (She took it though.)

I have already considered this option and have a sneaky suspicion it will be the route I go... But I feel better having vented my frustration here! (I'm leaving later today for a lil weekend getaway with Mrs. CG and figured I'd better vent here in the lobby instead! )

Thanks for the advice Laggy! I think we're aiming more for this version:

Well, getting back to the orignial situation... I think I found a viable solution!

Now... to decide on what kayak should I get! :)

Ummm that's the gayest looking thing I've ever seen.......

How is that gay looking? :???:

Well, just LOOK at it lol....

To me, it kind of reminds me of those "colour converter" lens' that you could buy in the '50s to convert your Black and white TV to a colour.

Kind of hard to explain but imagine putting streamers on the handlebars of your mountain bike and then you'll understand......

If you want to do it "right", this is what you could be looking at:

Won't work properly... Due to the sloped lines of the cargo area of my truck... Plus this would require permanent holes to be drilled to accommodate the uprights.

Regardless, I am still weighing my options for the easiest most cost effective solution. I thought the hitch extender was a great idea... $100 and I don't have to permanently install anything... :great:
