This is just plain wrong on so many levels, despite the ironic twist of fate.
And proof once again that truth is stranger than fiction.
Man’s secret cameras
caught beating,
not sex with escort
KITCHENER, Feb. 4
A nervy john got much more than he bargained for after rigging hidden cameras to record an encounter with a prostitute in his Waterloo apartment.
Instead of sex, the cameras captured two men beating and robbing him when the early morning meeting went awry in a dispute over payment.
Details of the incident were outlined Tuesday as Brandy Redmond, 21, received a two-year jail sentence for her role in the August attack.
A heroin addict who is about to lose custody of her young daughter, Redmond advertised herself as an escort on a website.
The 22-year-old man answered the ad and, over the course of several days, agreed by text message to pay her $250 for an hour of sexual services.
But when Redmond arrived at his apartment, the man produced a handwritten fee schedule of sex acts and said he would only pay her, incrementally, as they were ticked off.
"Redmond told (the man) that his payment plan was crazy and demanded payment up front," said prosecutor Jim Dixon.
The two argued for half an hour. Redmond threatened to get "her boys" to straighten him out. The man reached for his phone to call police.
Redmond then picked up a knife, approached the man and motioned through a window to two men waiting outside with metal bars.
When her enforcers came in, the man retreated to his bedroom — where three cameras he had set up to secretly record the expected sexual encounter were already rolling.
He threw money at them while lying on the floor, but it came up short of $250 when Redmond counted it.
She then found his rent money on a desk and grabbed it. The man tried to fight back, only to get kneed several times in the face.
As the trio fled with $545 and his keys, the man got a description and a partial licence plate of their car. He called 911 to report a robbery.
A number on his cellphone was linked to Redmond and recordings from his bedroom cameras backed up the story he told investigators.
And proof once again that truth is stranger than fiction.
