Made with Love

It's hard to see racism when you're white.

Does this campaign imply that only whites are racists???? I declare BULLSHIT.

I agree that if the goal of the signs is to get people talking, it will do that but once again, they point the finger at white people as the cause of racism. I mean how naive is that? Every race has racism perpetrated against them. With the law about equal oppurtunity many many white people haven't gotten a job they applied for simply because they are white. And yes, some haven't gotten the job because they are black.

Here's a good example: Through a friend of a friend on facebook, I got to talking with this hip hop dj. He commented on another friend's wall about something to do with racism. I got him thinking when I msg'd him and said "so, you think black people aren't racist when it comes to white people? I said "ok, so where are you playing saturday night"? I'll come down and see you spin......He dj'd at hip hop clubs. His audience is 100% black. If I showed up I'd be the only white person there. I then asked him "would I be welcomed with open arms or would there be a shit load of people staring at me like I had 2 heads and be more than a little po'd that I was there"?

He said "you have a point, more than a few of the guys might be prone to take you out back and beat the snot out of you". I said "dude, that's racism".

I said "worse still, they really want to beat the snot out of me if they saw me try and dance hip hop...they'd want to put me out of my misery" lol (and he laughed at that).

I think to be fair, they should have put up billboards showing different races affecting other races as well.

I agree with Tboy, discrimination exists within all races. I'm not saying it's right or wrong but most races like to stay within their own race. How many fathers regardless if they're Indian, Chinese, European, African are happy if their little girls bring home a boy outside their own race. I believe it's human nature but because of history i.e. slavery white people have been painted with the racism brush.

Another example of remaining within ones own race is look at how the GTA is divided. Markham and parts of downtown are mainly Asian, Woodbridge mainly Italian, ect...... You can't fight human nature, education helps but in the end instinct and human nature takes over.

I'm as white as they come LOL. I have had friends of all race and color and I have disliked individuals of all race and color. In life there are good and bad people within all races.

I was thinking the same thing!!! In all seriousness though racism is about as natural as moving your bowels. It depends on the environment where you are raised.
I don't know where my dog gets this but he is a HUGE racist. He loves whites but goes crazy around coloured people and east indians. Just does not like them at all. I've never encouraged him in any regard. He just does not like them.
Mind you I did name him Adolph and he did once sit through a sitting of "Der Ewige Jude" in the original german where he watched and listened for the length of the movie.

This applies to nationalities as well (as you pointed out). I've told this story a few times on here where I was dating a greek chick and her mother, right to my face, said to me "you're nothing, you're not greek".......

And being Greek means what now????
My own parents never had any issues with the background of whom I was dating. Maybe that's surprisingly open minded from Old School Europeans. But as one guy who had a penchant for dating black girls once told me: "Fuggetabout it... we's all pink on da inside."

Education teaches tolerance and we should all have it. I also agree that good and bad exists in all nationalities and races.

Sorry T, the Greek mother had a point. You can brag and pound your chest about the Texperience but to greek properly you must be greek. Senor is fooling himself greeking as a sombrero wearing Spaniard Malaka.

LOL being greek means yer homeland is broke lol....

I dated a french canadian woman for 5 yrs. When I first started dating I had to pull my father aside and say "don't you speak a fricken WORD about your opinions are the french...." As long as I can remember he harped and harped on how terrible the quebecers were and how french was ruining our country.

I tell you, I went up with her for christmas (and she was in charny) and everyone of her 100 family members welcomed me with open arms and even though I couldn't speak fluent french, and none of them spoke english, they gave me the warmest welcome and made sure constantly that I felt at ease and at home....that taught me that ANY type of bigotry, or bias is 100% wrong. I expected (due to the propaganda of english media) that they would all tease me incessantly, treat me like dirt, simply because I was an anglo. WRONG. I was more welcomed there than any other place I'd ever visited and any nationality I encountered. (and I dated italian, greek, portugese, wasp, asian, just about all....).

Funny you say that, she told me one weekend we went away for a winter escape that she'd never tried it before and wanted to. We did, and (not always) from that point on, she'd ask for it occasionally.

She said to me as we were starting to get busy: You're going to laugh, me being greek and all, but I've never tried it "that" way.....want to try?" lol....

BTW: I'm never beat my chest about the T experience....everyone else keeps harping on it lol.......

What the billboard is using is the academic definition of racism. The meaning used by sociologists is, racism is the prejudice against a race by the race that makes the rules. Not talking club, neighborhood or city, but countrywide. As one definition put it, racism is prejudice with institutionalized power.

Racial prejudice can be exercised by anyone, but racism is considered as being caused by the race with the controlling power.

I find Greek with a civvie can be pretty um, let's just say messy. I try to avoid it to be honest unless I know she knows what she's doing in the rear compartment.

I'm just toying with you on the Texperience, it would make for a good trademark though. I would like to refer to my move as the Madexperience, but it just doesn't roll off the tongue as nicely as yours. LOL

well, since Obama is the president, you could say he makes the rules, so, that means the face in the billboard should be black?

So, in africa, or jamaica, the billboards should be black. In china, red, in japan, japanese......etc.

I dunno about your definition there trans........because I feel that it doesn't matter what colour the politicians are, or the colour of the citizens, they fuck as all equally......

I see where they are coming from if we look at the corporate make up of North America only but do you not believe that within lets say 15 years this is about to change?

She rolled off my tongue quite well TVYM lol.....

I know what you mean about civvie backdoor encounters, but you have to ask whether they feel the need to take a dump or when the last time they did...but you don't say THOSE words exactly lol...it kind of kills the mood hehehhehe
