Made with Love

It's hard to see racism when you're white.

This applies to nationalities as well (as you pointed out). I've told this story a few times on here where I was dating a greek chick and her mother, right to my face, said to me "you're nothing, you're not greek".......

did you tell her you only back door her daughter so she feels at home

Naw, it was one of those cases where you come up with 100 retorts....3 days later lol...

I tell you though, when she had a "bread" emergency or needed me to do something I conveniently "forgot" all aboutit.......I tell you though, the pressure her family put on her contributed greatly to the end of the relationship.....I mean, they'd out and out lie to try and make me look bad to her.....

Here's an example: we had a messy breakup. (she broke up with me) She was really upset about it. I called her home a few days later just to see how she was and her sister told me: she came home, threw some stuff in a bag, and took off to the airport. We don't know where she was going, or anything. They were as puzzled as I was. I said " well, I was just calling to see if she was ok because she was really upset. If she calls, call me and let me know she's ok? They said fine.

I called a week later, No we haven't heard from her. This isn't like her she usually would call.

I called a week later...We still haven't heard from her, we hope she all right.

I get a call 2 weeks later from her: What the hell were you doing bugging my family to try and find out where I was?

FUUUUCK. I said to her: they told me you took off to the airport and they didn't know where you were, what you were doing, and were worried about you. I simply asked them to let me know if you called and if you were ok because you were upset when you left....she then yelled at her family and apologized.

Good point Zorro and it's a valid point you bring out Trans but the good old boys club does exist in every country, which I will be the first to agree is wrong.

Not my definition. Had a long argument in sociology with a professor trying to explain this, it is the academic definition. Again, racial prejudice can be committed by anyone, but racism is committed by the controlling race. Since Obama is not part of the controlling race, that example is not quite right. Plus Obama is head of the Executive Branch, not the Legislative.

There are many definitions of racism but the billboard seems to be using the institutionalized racism definition.

In full agreement with you Madman.

That may be true, but in my experience, academia has no bearing in the real world. They are trapped in their own little realm.......(and they were probably all white too! lol)

What the billboard is using is the academic definition of racism. The meaning used by sociologists is, racism is the prejudice against a race by the race that makes the rules. Not talking club, neighborhood or city, but countrywide. As one definition put it, racism is prejudice with institutionalized power.

Racial prejudice can be exercised by anyone, but racism is considered as being caused by the race with the controlling power.

Ahhh so maybe the billboard should have a caveat across the top that defines what being racist is all about first?
I don't know about you but I don't get out my copy of the Oxford's Unabridged Dictionary every time I see a billboard and ask myself "Is what I understand what it really means?"
In today's nomenclature a racist is anyone who dislikes anyone else due to their racial background.

which brings up a sore spot with me and racism.....just because there are white people who are racist, and some in the US whose relatives supported slavery, doesn't mean ALL white people are racists and why the fuck should someone hate me simply because I'm white and sometime, in some distant past, someone did something untoward a particular race of people?

I mean hell, I know black people from the carribean who are prejudiced against blacks from africa FFS......

Just offering another take on it SH. Of course you can go with whatever definition of terms you like, and chose to understand things the way you want. Did not say anyone was incorrect. Any type of discrimination based on age, sex, color, or religion is wrong. No matter who does it.

And please, while you're driving, do not attempt to look anything up in a dictionary. Very dangerous.

I see where they are coming from if we look at the corporate make up of North America only but do you not believe that within lets say 15 years this is about to change?

Not only corporate America, but the makers of laws as well Zorro.

I would not think there would be a change within the next 15 years in this regards. Seems like it would take longer. I'll take the over.

well, not sure where I read it, but in many parts of america, whites are in the minority. Not saying whites vs blacks, but within the racial melting pot......so that 15 yr estimate migthn't be that far off....

Unless the Tories reverse immigration policies I think us white folks will be the minorities and as the current CEO's start to retire and die off the faces of the CEO's within the next 15 maybe 20 years will more than likely not be us whitey tighties.

I notice in my own work environment there has been an Indian dare I say revolution (no flaming please, not meant in any negative way) LOL. People from an E.Indian background are moving up the corporate ladder, managerial ladder, supervisory ladder and yes even within our union ranks and most are doing a marvellous job and as within any cultural some are not.

In general most hard working people should and will move up admittingly some may have to work harder to prove themselves but in the end the cream will usually rise to the top regardless if it's regular or dark cream.

I'm really fucked because I'm a white guy who in the summer gets mistaken for a mulatto.:biggrin:

btw, anyone else notice mulatto women are usually very frieken sexy?

I'll go further and say that the best looking black women are closer to looking Caucasian.

Agree or disagree?

Only speaking from my POV, I agree with you.

Well I did date 2 different Mulato women and they were both beautiful and sexy. One was a semi pro beach vball player and the other was a business woman.

If you are asking, the relationships ended because it's really difficult to maintain a long distanced relationship. Yet we are still on very good terms.
