If he were an any other party I would have voted for him. Though I disagree with his politics, he had more respect from me than any other politician running. RIP Jack, you will be missed.

A truly decent man among politicians. I remember watching his last press conference thinking to myself, no way he's was coming back.

RIP Jack!

sorry guys, there is already a thread on Jack in the politics forum......

I didn't agree with his politics, but I've long admired his dedication and charisma.

We've lost a great Canadian.

RIP Jack.

Just out of curiosity rawd, what didn't you agree with? I didn't memorize all his policies but from everything I do remember he didn't believe in BS like McSquinty's policy on the HST, was all for reducing government waste, was all for supporting training kids and people in the trades, was fighting for tool subsidies for trades, etc etc etc

I do not want to debate on who is right or wrong but when the postal strike was on. They kept seniors and small businesses without receiving their cheques for an extra three days. They knew they were going to lose but they prolonged it as long as the could've. For what, just to say we fight for the people?.

Heck help the people get their money. Don't oppose it just for the sake of it. They did drop the bomb there.

And NO, I am not going to reply anymore to political issues.

Not sure what you mean by "they kept them from receiveing their cheques for an extra 3 days", are you talking about the unions? (not sure what that has to do with Jack....).....

Bubba you are misinformed about the postal strike. The union and management had a deal in place that ALL government cheques would be delivered and they were. Jack was fighting the proposed back to work legislation that contained less of a monetary gain than was offered during contract talks and it was apparent that the government appointed arbitrator is going to stick it to the posties. Negotiations should not have government interference. Back to work legislation is at times necessary but the Arbitrators hands should not be tied and he/she should be left to use his own expertise.

Jack was a good man, I'm sure he is watching and throwing arrows at Mr. Harper.

Show some class, open a new thread if you want to debate the policies of the NDP or any other party of your choice

“Like some political Moses, Jack Layton led his people out of the wilderness, only to die within sight of his own Promised Land.”

Not a fan of unions, especially ones that wallow in ignorance of fiscal realities.

Layton’s last words: ‘Love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear’

You're boss comes to you and tells you to take a pay cut and reduce your benefits. Do you accept his word at face value and say 'YES SIR, GO AHEAD SIR". In the meantime he's taking nice vacations, driving nice cars while your pay and benefits are slashed and burned.

I'm a unionized working stiff making $52000.00 a year. I am not rich by any means and I do work hard for my money. I pay my taxes in full because I cannot hide my income as do the self employed. Anytime any lawyer, doctor, entrepreneur or private sector worker wants to trade positions and walk in my shoes for a day, they are more than welcome!!

Jack Layton understood this and was vigilant in serving the working man. I and others will miss him.
