Was walking through a pharmacy and read. Get your flue shots here, Ohip pays for it.

Couldn't resist the freebie, me still alive.

Carry on.

Flu shots are free in many Canadian provinces. And a damn good idea. Get one. No arguments. No excuses. Get one. Now.

Why you still reading this? Get to the pharmacy!

Got one at a checkup last month.
If you walk into a pharmacy, I believe it costs $20 to get one.

Never had a flu shot and am not going to get one this year.

Being consistent is a good thing. But don't bite the cat if he eats the mouse.

No worries I love all my animals. It's funny I used to get a cold twice a year and the flu at least every two years but in the last 15 years or so nothing. Very strange indeed.

Not so strange...the body can acquire immunity through the years, and you're lucky! Might not prevent some of the virus mutations, but then again, it just might!

So why there's the resistant to flu shot.....I remember I took a flu shot, I ended up having the flu a few times afterward. So I'm kind of wary of taking it again.

Peace is it always best guess as what to put in the shot to protect against.

The flu shot virus is dead, and cannot give you the flu. By using a dead virus, which chemically is close to the live virus, the immune system builds antibodies against those strains of flu. Keep in mind the flu shot is not close to completely effective. The current 2014 flu shot is composed of about 320-40 of the current strains that MIGHT infect the majority, hoping that the immune system will work with those and close variants, but since flu virus mutates so quickly and effectively, catching one of the mutated strains can still give you the flu. Studies show between 60-80% effectiveness, though, and that's a damn sight better than being sick.
