In one case, the person has earned their death by taking a life or worse (with 4% chance of error). In the other, the one being killed is always innocent.



I don't think we have to have a death sentence for crimes.....a long life of doing very hard time is probably worse. But you have to get rid of all of the stupid appeals and such unless real new evidence becomes available. It's actually less expensive to house a prisoner for life than to deal with all of the court appeals that a death row inmate can apply for over the years. Just lock them up so they cannot hurt anyone else. And if they time is hard enough, they may just solve the problem themselves. Let them have a length of good solid rope in case they want to take the easy way out. Problem solved.

So you are fine with those percentages..... I'm assuming you aren't a Christian, hence your comment, they have earned their death sentence....I may be mistaken, but I think in Christianity, it is only God that is supposed to decide a humans fate. With abortion, the one being killed isn't always innocent. Since many serial killers, and other criminals (Sociopaths/psychopaths) are born as such, so for me it is illogical to justify one but not the other, if for that reason alone. I'm not religious, I believe in abortion, and if a person can be proven guilty without question, I believe in the death penalty as well. We all have our beliefs and perspectives

I'm not Christian or any other religion. I'm for punishing the guilty.....and as far as I can tell, an unborn child hasn't committed any crimes yet....even if they someday will.

My point was that a person on death row has probably done something to deserve to be there. An unborn child had no choice in its conception. In that case, the parents are the ones who should have made better choices. (And I'm still for choice....I just hate that some idiots use abortion as a form of birth control instead of being responsible beforehand. And I don't have issues with early abortions as accidents do happen. It's the later term abortions, where the mother or child's health isn't a concern but the people just don't want to have the kid any more that irritate me.)

By the logic of your serial killers comment....couldn't that same argument be used to do all sorts of evil things? There wouldn't be any children injured or dead from dog bites if dogs were killed before they could bite. :biggrin2:
