Made with Love

Ladies - Stand up and give thanks to HUBGFE. The "C" word is no more.........

Used properly yes..... unfortunately it was used in a far more derogatory manner including via PM's to some of the ladies by some idiots.

The board owner decided it should be added to the blocked list along with the names of some other boards and words. Try it on some other forums you will find them blocked as well. You cant even say Cocktail without Cock being blocked on some places.

As for censorship, it's far more minimal here than what you see on other boards. Remember it's a privately run board, not a publicly owned one.

Excuse me, you PREACH censorship as well as making changes to suit your own personal preferences.

What positive effect does it have?

How does it affect those who it is used against?

What is more important to you -the ability to cause negativity or a person's right to be free of that negativity?

This I believe boils down to the right of person to use a word and a person's right to be free of the hurt and negativity it causes. I think HUBGFE got it right in this case.

you do have the option of voicing your objection and ask for clarification.

Now that said I dislike the word but I will not say it should be banned and people who use it should defend it.

Put me down as siding with Papa on this one.

I'm not really big on the whole censorship aspect of the move.

Although to my knowledge I have never used that word on any forum, still I support the premise that it is our right to use it as we see fit.

Now if the mods concur that the word was used in a slanderous way then they should act accordingly to the poster.

As as already been pointed out this opens a whole can of worms not the least being are we going to ban all the slang expressions for penis as well?

I'm guessing not.

I dislike the word as well papa, I didnt ask for it to get banned, neither did the ladies, however complaints about the derogatory pm's and insults kinda struck a nerve with the owner and he made that call.

Wow my bad folks.

If you really feel the need to have a word in your vocabulary over ensuring that others are not insulted by it within your community, then keep your word. I thought it was great that HUBGFE saw the need to keep certain words out of use. NOT ALL, but some for a variety of difference reasons. I wanted to Applaud them for the choice. It is their board after all. If it was a public board, I would get the scream of censorship etc, but it is not. It is private board. Their board, their rules.

For the ladies that get nasty PM's etc, why is it so wrong to give them some piece of mind? I will never understand that.

Thesun -
I think your choice to be negative should not be suffered by someone else. You want to be negative, do it alone. Why the need to bring other people down with you?

Oh please do not forget to ban the "N" word that Femme used as a way to explain its comparison to Tboy's inoffensive words.

Then that should be dealt with in an individual manner.

The board owner decided it should be added to the blocked list along with the names of some other boards and words. Try it on some other forums you will find them blocked as well. You cant even say Cocktail without Cock being blocked on some places.
Just because it has been blocked on other boards doesn't make it right though does it? And why wait till now to do it? Some interesting timing if you ask me. Sounds like someone is filling an agenda if you ask me.

And minimal is where it should stay but things look to be changing around here lately.

Wow my bad folks.

SO Passive aggressive!

. I thought it was great that HUBGFE saw the need to keep certain words out of use. NOT ALL, but some for a variety of difference reasons.

Walking on a dangerous path here when you start deciding what's appropriate and what is not.

For the ladies that get nasty PM's etc, why is it so wrong to give them some piece of mind?

THere is nothing wrong with it. This is why censorship is dangerous.

Unfortunately as we all experienced from batman55 with the pm's that he flooded the membership's pm box with..... it happens to the ladies when some idiot signs up a new handle and proceeds to insult them via PM.

None of the mods that I'm aware of knew this happened. It was a call made by the site owner, no one else. So arguing about it here isn't going to resolve it. You've expressed your disagreement and I'm sure the site owner will take everyone's comments seriously. We all agree its a distasteful word, most agree it shouldn't be censored. BTW, your signature picture is driving me nuts for a squirter.

Where did I decide what was appropriate? I said I thought it was great. That is my opinion. One minute you say were are all allowed to have one, now you say I am deciding for all.

And I am not being passive or aggressive. I seriously thought this would be a welcoming thread and people would be happy. I would not have started it had I have known that this would be the reaction. I bet that most of the board would not even have know. I knew because I went back into that thread. I saw it was now a banned word. I thought I would should my apprecaition and make a thread. I regret that now. So yes - WOW! My bad.

People will still find a way around the filtering. Is the issue not the word, but its disrespectful use?
