So a few weeks back the company I worked for mentioned that they would be cutting down the staff at our office because of financial issues. I talked to my director and she said she heard some names being floated around but at that time she thought I was safe. Well it turns out I was one of those that were laid off. They are going to replace a lot of us with contract workers to cut down costs.

It was a weird feeling because it was the first time I had ever left a job without it being my decision. It was also a job where I was really comfortable, got along with everyone and saw myself moving up the ladder.

Now it's back in the job hunt mode but I can't seem to find any motivation at the moment. My days consist of sitting around watching tv, going for a long walk, cooking new things, and playing video games all night. I really need to sharpen some of my skills before applying but I feel so lazy and keep putting it off.

The worst part is no more trips to MPs for the time being :(

you want ass

get yours moving

Absolutely. Don't get in a rut Gooby, inertia can be a strong force to overcome. Get right out there as soon as you can and start looking. The longer you wait the more insurmountable the search will seem. Best of luck in the job hunt.

Contracting and outsourcing, oh no MM is going to be all over this one in the morning.

Best of luck in your job hunt Gooby.

You can always try stripping.

Feel free to show us your goodies if you would like an unbiased opinion of your likelihood of success in that field. :)

I can tell you from personal experience that Papa and Transient are right...the longer you put off the search, the harder it will be.

Good luck with everything.

Now you have an opportunity to stop the insanity and break the addiction.

Find a job, find a classy lady and settle down.

Good advice right there.

sorry to hear about what happened to you Gooby. It's always difficult and a bit shocking when it happens but I wish you well and I hope that something new and exciting comes along your way soon. It happened to me before too and in hindsight it was the best thing that happened to me as it allowed me to move onto other opportunities which helped me move further along my career.

Get off your butt and start finding that next job!!!! First it'll be a week to relax and take it in. then something will come up and it'll be another week. Then you're calculating how long your savings and other money will last. Next thing you know, it's been a year, you've lost all of your people skills and live like a shut-in.

Chop chop...there are opportunities just waiting for you out there. Stay positive and make "Finding a new job" your temporary 8am - 6pm job!

More good advice.

Excellent advice, Gooby best of luck and don't tell anyone your nickname during a job interview.
