It's funny but it's not.

More of a joke of a man.

The president of a Prince Edward Island chapter of MADD Canada, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, has resigned after being charged with impaired driving.

David Griffin, 65, is a former deputy chief with Summerside Police and was the volunteer president of the MADD chapter in East Prince County.
He was charged with impaired driving in June.

MADD Canada is a charitable group that works to raise awareness about the dangers of alcohol and drug-impaired driving, and supports the victims and survivors of drunk driving.
Andrew Murie, the CEO of MADD Canada, says Griffin offered to resign as soon as he was charged. He said they had no choice but to accept his resignation.

"Obviously, we're very disappointed, as an organization, that one of our members has been charged with impaired driving," Murie told CTV News from Oakville, Ont.
He added that Griffin was actively involved with the organization for more than three years, and apologized to the group before stepping down.

Murie said he's been CEO of MADD Canada for 18 years and this is the first time he can remember anyone within the group facing an impaired driving charge.

Griffin is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Summerside at the end of August.

That's disgusting. He just soiled the reputation of an excellent organization and insulted all the families who've had loved ones killed by drunk drivers.

You have to put the blame on MADD as well for not viewing his history or lifestyle. Anyone with a DUI has a history of drinking.

Wow, forgiving bunch aren't we. Guess people aren't allowed to fuck up around here.

I'm not saying impaired driving is acceptable. But I look at it this way, he admitted he did wrong, apologized and stepped down. We just have to wait and see what he does come his time in court. Judging by his actions thus far, I wouldn't be surprised if he pleads guilty to the charges.

To me, that is respectable. He screwed up, he admitted to it, and thus far he's taking action to rectify it. Which is a damned sight more than what many people in positions of power, or elected officials have done.

Let's look at some....But we shan't name names...
Nude pics of himself found on his phone. "The camera must have gone off in my pocket"

Caught reading and driving. "I'm a busy man."

Caught smoking crack. Well, we know that well....

Intern comes forward and claims to have polished the presidential pole. "We didn't have sex."

Votes against an anti-discrimination bill "That's what gay guys do on gay sites, don't they? That's how things happen on Grindr. It's a gay chat site. It's not the first thing you do on that site. That's what we do, exchange pics on the site."

Isn't it usually the case, the finger pointers and moral crusaders are usually the one's hiding a dark secret.
