Madman, I rarely even open this thread. The content doesn't interest me. I just make a post every so often, when it's addressed to someone who frequents this thread.
I think a lot of people misunderstand the meaning of the green light, next to a person's handle on the left side bar. That only means that that person is logged in to HUBGFE, nothing more. It doesn't mean they are present and participating in a particular thread.
For example, I never log out. If my light isn't green, it means I'm restarting my browser, or restarting my computer, or I have done one of those things, and haven't opened a browser window to HUBGFE.
I make most of my posts between midnight and dawn, when I'm in the mood to write. Although I'm in Toronto, my time clock is different from almost everyone else. It's very rare that I respond to any thread or any post in a thread soon after the last post was made. In some threads, I have something to say, I say it, and I don't open the thread again. I don't even open many of the threads, because the topic in the title doesn't interest me.
If you want personal interaction with me, quote me, in a thread I read, or catch my attention somehow, but don't assume I will look everywhere. I scroll past lots of posts, without reading them, if I think they would not interest me, or the author doesn't.
If I want small talk, I speak to a person, face to face. On boards, I speak to the words, or the avatar, as if the conversation is dialogue in a film or cartoon.
I'll never meet most of you in real life, so chit chatting with people I don't actually know is not a good time investment for me.
Just because someone writes something, it doesn't mean that other people have to read it, and that applies to my posts, more than most.
I use the bold formatting a lot, for people who may want to read only selected paragraphs of a longer piece, based on content. I just like to write things. It doesn't matter to me if other people read them; I just give them the option of reading, or scrolling past.
