I also occasionally put a couple pinches of cinnamon and a splash of vanilla in the grounds along with the salt

Dark roast is too strong, I prefer light. Millstone Breakfast Blend is my favorite so far.
Doughnut Shop makes some decent light blends
Starbucks Blonde is decent too
