true story- a few years ago, in the underground parking garage of a local hotel, I drove past a car and noticed the tiny head of a yorkie moving from window to window. I had an appt there and leaving the appt an hour or so later I noticed that little dog was still there, jumping still from window to window, it looked frantic, I moved my car next to it's car and sat and watched, another hour went by and still no one came. I contacted the hotel security and they searched for them as guests, no one matching that car there, so I called police. They came but refused to do anything because the dog wasn't in danger, in their opinion, it was warm enough, although it was winter, it was just scared. So, I sat there for almost 2 more hours waiting, waiting for those irresponsible owners. Nearly 4 hrs later these people came sauntering in carrying their pizza boxes. I confronted them, told them the police were here and they were very apologetic and seemed scared , UNTIL... I had told them the police weren't going to do anything. They then became belligerent with me, telling me to mind my business, it was their dog, and that the dog was fine! I told them next time if I ever see they're car again I was breaking their window and taking the dog, a back and forth verbal assault ensued and I left. You can't reason with idiots. I regret not breaking the window and taking the dog!
