A massive storm hitting Chicago is going to cause some headaches for rush hour drivers in the GTA Tuesday.

Environment Canada says the storm is heading our way, and is expected to arrive in Toronto around 5:30 p.m. with heavy rain and winds gusting to 80 kilometres per hour.

“We’re keeping an eye on the situation,” said Geoff Coulson, meteorologist with Environment Canada, adding that intense periods of rainfall and wind could sharply reduce visibility and affect the drive home.

“People will definitely want to have two hands on the wheels, leaving lots of space between vehicles to give plenty of time to react,” said Coulson.

Most of our staff and others that I know of left work early because of this. Wonder how this will affect businesses.

It's only a little rain and wind. Once again Torontonians play it too save.

Yes. Weird traffic pattern driving home (downtown) from burbs on DVP at about 4:45PM.

DVP was unusually jammed all the way south to the Bloor off ramp. OTOH, downtown off ramps and Lakeshore were bizarrely empty.

Think a mistake was made. Last night driving through the 401 at 9 pm only light rain and very little wind. I believe tonight is when it will start.
