You gotta hand it to the guy, he's doing what he said he'd do....

I just want to add that it's about time, etobicoke did this years ago and saved millions.

You have to love the union's position: "the union that represents Toronto’s garbage collectors, has adamantly opposed the move" No shit captain obvious...you think they'd be for the move? lol.....

I wonder how he's getting around the equal pay clause in the union contract. That's the one that stated that any job subbed out had to be paid at the same hourly rate as the union gets....(whover signed THAT contract ought to be shot shit and pissed upon).

It may be too late for him to do that .
I Suspect that he'd rather go at least full term once at the City of Toronto.

What are the odds of Ford running for the big one. Does he stand a chance?.

By big one do you mean premier? Wouldn't he have to go through the ranks or is it like being Prime Minister, just hop in with no prior experience.......

Speaking of which, have you heard the latest? Harpo has ok'd a wage increase for many (if not most) of his employees, increased the amount of severance by 50%? Ignoramous (ignatieff whatever his name is) doesn't believe in living or working in Canada unless it's as premier so we can't vote for that whacko so what does that give us? NDP, green or the communists......

I have a feeling we're going to get screwed big time......

I have a feeling it is going to be worse this time around.....

at least we have been trained for it.....doesnt mean we are happy about it...

Kudos to Ford.

Harpo still gets my vote (how else do I negate Iggy or Layton?). I'm a conservative but politicians are essentially the same.

Same here. I can't believe that there are people on the Liberal side who actually believe that Iggy came back to Canada for anything more than his own vanity or to improve his own personal wealth.
While I am happy with what Harper has done so far I have to admit that I personally think that M.P.'s are paid too much and I am tired of "Professional Politicians".
I knew the Mayor of Niagara Falls in his youth and the ONLY thing that he ever wanted to be was a politician. Even at 16 years old he had done the math that if you get re-elected and "double-dip" there is a pretty easy life to be had.

Hell yeah SH.....don't they get some sort of pension even if they're elected once for one term (of any duration)?

I thought I read somewhere where a politician was elected as an MP, then an MPP and then something else and was getting a pension from each.....it is absolutely ludicrous. Like Mayor Miller and his cronies voting themselves a raise. W T F? Who in their right mind (politicians of course) gave someone the power to vote themselves a raise?

Kudos to the council members who refused the raise though......

No you have to be RE-ELECTED to get the pension. So for someone who was successfully elected in 2008, should they be re-elected this time will be eligible for a pension this year!
Can't complain about that.

So, if I understand it, you have to hold the position for 2 terms?

While most of us have to work 20 yrs for a pension, elected officials have to work 6? Do I have that correct?

(and I use the term "work" loosely lol I have yet to see many politicians actually "work" for their money).

I have no idea who to vote for federally. I think they are all wankers. My preference is another Harper minority.
