I've just been doing other things. The sort of thing I've neglected by spending too much time on this board. I have some finishing touches to do on the documentation for my new font release. I've been trying to get more sleep. I've been writing some long e-mails, posting on other boards, and socializing outside.
I'm not usually here at the same time as the rest of you, anyway. I usually add to this board during the middle of the night, so I can get part of it done before papasmerf destroys it in the morning.
Madman, keep in mind that I was on the red board for twelve years, and made about 4,200 posts, I went 36 consecutive months 2008-2011 there with only one post, and I was banned from their The Lobby on May 30, 2014, but I didn't ask them about it until 18 weeks had passed; my previous two bans there were two weeks and six weeks, so I assumed the length tripled each time.
They never explained that to me. One of their mods just locked me out of their The Lobby, but I could post in other forums. I couldn't use the search for anything in their The Lobby. I couldn't look at profile pages of anyone who only posted in their The Lobby. I could read their The Lobby, but only in 'lurk mode', so there was no way for me to read their The Lobby and also be able to post there, in a different sub forum.
Being away from any message board for long periods is common to me. I spent most of June through September working about 125 hours a week on my font. The ban from the red board removed a large time distraction. I was only making a few posts their a day, anyway.
I do professional writing, so posting a lot on HUBGFE from mid October has mainly been warming up for a paying gig in writing. I just needed to finish the font first, because it will generate income for me to play while I'm doing the professional writing assignment. It took a lot longer to complete the font that I had originally expected, but I didn't want to do the writing until the font was complete. I work best by fully completing one task before starting on another.
The nature of my work is that I have to do all of the work before I get any payment, but then I get money without having to do more work for a while. I started posting here when I was just about to start making some money for play, but I've delayed receiving that money by not completing the last part of the work.
Hence, I'll make a few posts today, answer some PMs, read a bit, and sign out. I'll come back in a few days, depending on how long t takes to get my priorities taken care of first.
I'm just going to read a while, because I have no idea what's been going on here recently. I've been on vacation, and I don't bring a computer or cell phone with me when I'm away. The whole purpose of the vacation is to NOT stay in touch. That stuff will all still be there when I get back.
