Milestone of women's rights marks 20th anniversary

TORONTO - All it took was a pair of exposed breasts in public to set a milestone for Canadian women.

Gwen Jacob was 19 when she arrested in Guelph for indecent exposure in 1991. She and a fellow university student noticed a group of guys naked from the waist up playing sports in the blistering sun and decided to take off her top after musing about the inequality of it all.

Much ado about nothing.......like many things, women fought to garner rights yet don't exercise those rights....women have been going topless in europe for years and it is no big deal......north americans are such prudes it's ridiculous.......

I don't know if it's a bad thing that more women aren't enjoying the freedom to go topless, if they did, we'd have to impose some restrictions on who could actually go topless: there are definitely some women I would NOT want to see walking around with their boobs out.....*shudders*

Legal or not, it's still socially unacceptable. I don't know many women who would find it worth the trouble of dealing with the reactions from men.

Europeans are much more relaxed about nudity, but even there I don't think you often see a topless woman walking down a city street.

I bet after the first week, the drooling would stop.....the reason they/we drool is because it is out of the ordinary. Travel to many carribean resorts and we gawk for the first hour, then the rest of the week it's passe..unless of course she happens to be outstanding....then let the drooling begin lol....
