I am looking for movers and have 'ontrek' formerly known as 'bazinga' movers booked for this weekend. Of course I decided to search out some reviews and the only reviews I can find are not positive. Can anyone here recommend a good, reasonably priced Toronto mover?

Carmen @ 9052751220.

Reliable, punctual and will not rip you off.

I hate moving. I hate moving only slightly less than I hate running out of propane for my BBQ on Canada Day weekend. Just wanted to get that out there.

Thanks so much, I spoke with Carmen (Carmel) and his wife. Was quoted $100 p/h, for 3 men, and truck, 3 hours min, plus $50 travel time. He is very very Italian, he says he is coming with his son and another guy. Called me Seniora, with much respect. I booked him and hope he works out. He is actually a bit more in cost but I am weary of the low ballers, as I read they will jack you up at the end.

If all fails Boing I m coming after you lol

It`s important to have reliable movers, it`s a stressful day as it is.

Thanks for the well wishes Amy. Oh I wish things went down smoothly, unfortunatelly I am running into obstacles all around: Carmen the mover only has a 24 foot truck, great for the move, as for sure everything will fit, but my condo building won't fit more than a 14 foot truck into the loading zone. They said something about having to park on the side street which is about half a block away from the loading doors. Thats too far, it will take too long and be too expensive. So I gotta wait til tomorrow to find out from the boss to see if a 24 footer can fit nearer to the door.

The other thing that I found strange was hearing from one of the other movers I called: they don't move plants. Really lol, cause they'r live, plus the cops can fine them...they said that not me. I was like thank you very much. (oh and before you all go off joking about my plants, they'r real and they are spectacular..not herbal)

Carmen said no problem to plants.

I don't like moving either, as a matter of fact I once didn't move for nearly 15 years cuz I don't like moving, lol.

Blissful ...thanks for that generous offer ...my guess is if the poppos were to move me, it would probably be outta town. ha ha

Yep I don't like all the logistics involved but I am looking forward to our new place. I had enough of the hoity toity downtown condo life. Next time maybe I'll move out Muskoka way (jk, tboy, lol)

HoneyBee....I hope things go well.....Have a drink.....

What kind of plants you are moving?

Honeybee, I wish you well tomorrow and hopefully the weather doesn't work too much against you. Supposedly we are expected to be hit with another storm.

plants.....or is it some funny kinda house plants..

I call house plants same as everybody ...the others are herbal plants, sadly I don't have any of those right now

Well that was a bit of a disaster. The movers (AC Movers) jacked up the price, then held my bed and leather couch in the truck, while my roomie went to the bank to get some more cash. I was so humiliated by this Carmello and his son. At old place they pissed off the security by leaving their truck running while setting up the ramp. Fumes were overtaking the lobby and when guard told them to turn off the truck: Carmello rudely pointed to the Gardiner Hwy which is only a couple hundred feet from the building and said 'look my friend you got fumes here 24 hours'. Security told him that if he sets off the fire alarms, they won't be able to use the elevator to move me.

I had to calm everybody down before we even got started. They took a nice long lunch but pretended that that's how long it took them to drive from point A to B. At the new place the management shut off the service elevator because residents were coming home from school/work etc but the mover was holding my furniture. Carmello had no problem yelling at me and purposely showing management that we were in dispute. Then management asked them to move their truck cuz a recycle or garbage truck was coming in, and Carmello refused at first. So the lady tells him, that he may get a ticket/fine or something like that and Carmello points his finger at me and says not me, the customer. WTF.

When I told him that he is extorting me and threatened to call the police, he suddenly couldn't "explain himself very well in English" and called his son and other mover from the truck. He asked me earlier where I found him and I told them on an adult entertainment board (big mistake), 2 minutes later the price doubled. He started talking about 800$ or more. Carmello told me if I don't have all the money he is taking my furniture to storage and 'bring back when ah you have ah the money and you pay few hundred more becauza we have to go and coma back'. (sorry my Italian accent imitation is not very good)

I m like yo dude nah that's not how its gonna work. lol

We ended up paying $650 but not without alot of argument, embarrassment, hassle. Despite the jacking I invited them all to come upstairs to wait while roomie was at bank and they refused, so here I had to stay downstairs with them...ughhhh

I am angry at myself for cancelling the other mover who I thought might do this to have this exact scenario play out by someone who was recommended.
I kinda feel like I got played here.
Last thing Carmello said to me was 'and don't tell anybody about this'

Next time buy a case of beer then pizza for all, give $100 to your friends that helped you move. Cheaper than trusting movers.
