I won't provide any specifics into the nature of my condition. I have to share those with family and friends. I want to protect my privacy. The biggest challenge I'm facing is not from the health issue itself but from the regular risk of infection.
As we know, infections can be very dangerous. A serious potentially life threatening infection clued me into the fact I was not well. I was fortunate enough to get treatment in time before the infection became too serious.
My health issue is easily fixable by surgery. Hopefully it will only take one surgery. In the worst case senario it might take 2 surgeries. The biggest struggle everyday is worrying about a new infection. I've been perscibed a very intense anti-biotic to prevent a new infections from re-occurring until I can get my surgery done.
A combination of heavy antibiotics and the risk of infection has made me more fragile than I would like to be. It's very hard deal with this. I'm used to be a very active person who bounces off of walls with high energy. I'm the kind of personality that loves to change the energy of a room.
The health issue is not the hardest part to deal with. Being forced to slow down and take it easy is what's killing me. I feel like a caged rat some days.
If I could get a surgey tomorrow, I would be back in perfect health. That's not the way things work. You have to wait a couple of months to get into surgey. The worst part is waiting and the huge adjustments to my daily routine while on the waiting list.
I don't deserve anyone's empathy either. It's 100% my fault. I put my career and making money ahead of my personal health. There was clear signs something was wrong for more than 6 months. I ignored those signs and kept working.
I kept telling myself I would worry about it next week. Next week turned into 6-months; my procrastination turned into a potentially life threatenting infection that could have resulted in this post never being written.
People keep saying our, "health should come first". Our busy non-stop lifestyles put us at greater risks than we realize. If I had made the choice to deal with my health issue when I first noticed it 6 months ago, It could have been fixed within a month.
What's the price tag for not having my priorities in the right order? "I don't know yet, I'll let you know in another 3 months"
