Anyone watch this new news channel? It's based on a politically conservative slant and they make no bones about it. It's entertaining but some of the hosts are very annoying after a bit of watching. They do have some very nice looking women working the mics and some of the talent are from 640 talk radio.

Someone else brought this up the other day too I think...

So what you're saying is, its kind of the flip side of the coin when compared to CBC which is based on a politically Liberal slant and they make no bones about it.... But easier on the eyes. :)

I agree CBC tends to be on a more on the left as CTV is more on the right but both these networks try and mask their biases more. Sun TV is Conservative and they would sing conservatism songs from the top of a mountain if they could.

It will be interesting to see if Harper wins a majority if the funding for CBC starts to drop and more favors start to appear for the more conservative spoken networks.

I would like to see them CUT funding to all networks! Let them rise and fall on their own merits and let the chips fall where they may.

I do agree somewhat with you on this point. Although originally CBC was instituted to be able to reach every Canadian in all nooks and crannies of Canada. A simple bunny ear attena is usually all that is needed to receive reception. Similar to the Canada Post monopoly on letter mail, which is suppose to reach every Canadian at a fair price. I'm not sure if these models are needed anymore and unless we get a conservative majority we will probably never find out.

Without the CBC, how would we get updates on the happenings at the Rover's Return on Coronation Street? :drunk:

It's part of their mandate to inform Canadians about Wetherfield.

Absolutely agree 100%. Why should my tax dollars go to support something that is blatantly biased towards liberalism. I would keep a small portion of govt funding for CBC Radio in the North however.
