Apologies to post it here but not too many read the sports section here and thought this is great news for us.

Donaldson Traded To Toronto

ESPN.com senior writer Jerry Crasnick discusses the trade between the Blue Jays and Athletics that sends 3B Josh Donaldson to Toronto for Brett Lawrie and others.Tags: , , ,

The Oakland Athletics have traded third baseman Josh Donaldson to the Toronto Blue Jays.
The A's will receive Brett Lawrie, Kendall Graveman, Franklin Barreto and Sean Nolin.

Donaldson told the San Francisco Chronicle that he was playing video games when his agent texted him about the trade.
"At the end of the day, it's a business, as much as it hurts emotionally. The guys in that clubhouse are my brothers," he told the Chronicle.

A's left fielder Josh Reddick told the newspaper it is apparent the team is in a rebuilding phase.
"This doesn't make sense to me. We just traded our best player the last two years," he told the Chronicle.

Donaldson batted .255 with 29 home runs and 98 RBIs this past season, and was named to the All-Star team. In his only two years as a regular, he finished fourth (2013) and eighth (2014) in American League MVP voting.

The Athletics also are open to trading Jeff Samardzija in "the right deal," a source told ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick.

Holy oranges. What a 3-4-5-6 hitters we are going to have in our line up next year.

Donaldson's numbers should increase substantially in the AL East. Bautista will benefit just as much, from having Donaldson batting behind him. Apparently, Barreto is a blue chip shortstop prospect, and Graveman is a decent pitcher. I doubt Nolin will ever be more than an average pitcher, if that. If they had traded Marcus Stroman or Daniel Norris as part of the package, I would have called the deal even. As is, it's a fleecing.

Starting pitching and LF/1B are in need of an upgrade, particularly with Navarro off to Baltimore. There should be enough offense to use a glove man at 2B, who doesn't need to contribute much offensively.

Navarro off to Baltimore?...AA would never trade him to a team in his own division. That's not the way he rolls.

Also I don't understand why you think they need to upgrade from EE at first?

Too bad Milkey doesn't want to play in artificial turf.

Their what one of 2 teams that still play on turf. It's costing them in attracting free agents and Rogers is one of the richest owners in baseball.

Time to change with the times I would think and cough up the coin to put the real stuff in. The Argos aren't long for the CFL anyways and unfortunately nobody seems to care.

Oops, wrong Navarro. Rey, (ex Reds minor league MI), signed with Baltimore. I saw "Navarro inks one year deal with Baltimore" and jumped to a conclusion. My bad.

Our Navarro wants to go, and I think he'll be gone by April.

I considered EE to be the DH, with no Lind.
