Sorry guys, I couldn't find the thread on "they don't make movies like they used to..." so I just had to post this...
The Forbidden Planet was just on TCM and I thought I'd give it a shot since I seem to remember Robbie The Robot.
So here's some big laughs from the movie:
They seemed to think that flashing lights equals technology. The whole fricken ship was just a bunch of lights blinking on and off.
They didn't know about re-entry so when the saucer went to land on Altair 4, there was no flames or heat build up.
When they were coming in, they were worried about attack so they sent "all the blaster men" to their posts...Blaster men, I almost shit myself laughing...blaster men....
When the ship was approaching the surface, little puffs of dust no where close to the ship were squirting up all over the place. It was obvious there were a bunch of tubes buried in the ground and someone was blowing in them to make the puffs. Then they continued even when the ship was on the ground lol
The cook, complete with Apron and Sailor's cap was part of the landing party lol (I nearly pissed myself when I saw this)
When the ship was landing, the underside had a oval disc thing with spinning lights. When they got off the ship, this disc was solid silver
After they were attacked the first time, and set up their perimeter "decomposing" fence, they let the cook outside the perimeter to go look for "radishes" for the crew lol.....
The funniest thing was when morpheus told the captain to press the lever and turn the disc to destroy the krell's machine, the switch was a rod with a silver radiator cap on it.....considering the machine held the power of an entire solar system, it was pretty easy to set to self destruct too lol......
Anyhow, this thread might be a good place to post all your humorous observations in movies.....
