To be blunt, I do not want a funeral, I do not wish to be buried in the family plot, and I want my remains to be disposed in the most affordable means. I know that will not be honoured. It'll just go in one ear and out the other.

The most affordable means would be swimming in shark infested waters, then you'd win the family battle.

Have you considered leaving your body to science? That would take care of the burial and affordable issues. I don't know if you can actually stop people from having a funeral, but you can certainly make your wishes clear in your Will.

This would be a case in which I would suggest definitely having the Will drawn up by an attorney. If you want anyone but your next-of-kin to be in charge of your remains, that has to be worded very specifically and properly to be binding.
